Early election results in Nicaragua suggest former Marxist revolutionary Daniel Ortega could return to power as president after 16 years. Results from just over 7% of polling stations show Mr Ortega with 40.8% of the vote - enough to avoid a second round of voting if that support holds.

You can lead a horse to water..... Democracy isn't perfect - just better than the other options - most of the time - but not all the time.
