The most recent data released by the TSP show that 36.1 percent of active-duty military personnel are saving for their retirement through the 401(k)-type program. An additional 12.2 percent of the military reserves have joined the TSP.Folks there are three words you have to understand here; Pre. Tax. Money. Roll that into the "if you don't see it; you don't miss it" concept with the time value of money, and the 63.9% of you are just throwing money out your window.
