'SD' was used by 501 (County of Gloucester) Sqn. Formed in Bristol (my grandfather was an ARP warden in Filton) they then fought in France and relocated to the south-east for the Battle of Britain, where they operated Hawker Hurricanes. Converted to Spitfires in '41 the year before this film was made ('First of the Few' is a wartime production)
