Building off a lot of what I have read about the movie - this about seals the deal. From the Kyle Smith at the NYPost,Even for Hollywood, "Green Zone" is dumbfoundingly brazen in its effort to rewrite the facts. As any reasonably informed person knows, many intelligence services (including the French, German, Chinese, Russian and British) believed Iraq had WMDs. And the CIA (which along with Chief Miller is a hero of "Green Zone") was among them. Plus, such intel reports predated the Bush administration -- and Saddam's refusal to allow the UN weapons inspectors to finish their work gave us every reason to think he was hiding something and sealed his fate.
It's one thing to make a fantasy film laced with snarky jibes at the United States and its military. It's of another order entirely for an American studio (Universal, a unit of GE) to perpetrate, during an ongoing war, such vicious anti-American lies disguised as cheap entertainment.
"Green Zone" tells US troops that all of their efforts have been based on a deliberate deception. Worse, it blames the insurgency that has killed so many of our fighting men and women on US treachery.
Movies like "In the Valley of Elah," "Rendition" and "Redacted" have shown US forces doing nasty things -- but none went anywhere near as far as this picture in suggesting original sin corrupted the entire Iraq war and that American officials are more blameworthy than the insurgents for the most violent years.
"Green Zone" isn't cinema. It's slander. It will go down in history as one of the most egregiously anti-American movies ever released by a major studio.
Yawn.

Hollywood is filled w/ narcisstic pukes that feel guilty for bagging lots of money for bs work. As a result, they assuage their guilt (for a profit mind you) putting out this tripe. They will not get my money on this one.
No, not yawn - the forces of deception in Hollywood will ship this tripe overseas and some in the non-US will believe it just as many in the US will believe it. And 30 years from now, when it shown on TV, another generation will beleive it. And so on.
See the unwritten Lessons Learned from Vietnam and how this sort of tripe screwed up America's image for years and years and how it keeps on going and going...
Hwood is still pretty good at making propaganda films...
It has that AssKnuckle Matt Damon in it.. I'll pass...
I guess Gary Busey was unavailable..
They keep putting out this crap to try and defect attention from the Marxist in Chief's agenda.
It ain't workin', tho.....
Hollywood has put out one piece of anti-US (Iraq War) propaganda after another. I can't remember one that made any significant money. This one is reputed to have cost upwards of $100 million. One would THINK that eventually the business end of it is going to catch up with these asshats.
That's what I'm hoping, GBS. At some point they'll just run out of money for making ther ugly, revisionist, America-hating trash. Soon, I hope, because movies like this do harm America around the world.
Mr T, when I was growing up my mother boycotted all Jane Fonda movies because of her actions during the Vietnam War. I'm starting to feel that way about Matt Damon.
That is why I don't go to many (okay, any) movies. These scum may get rich anyways, but it won't be with any contribution from me.
The amazing (well, not really) thing was when "The Hurt Locker" showed up as a well done/well liked movie, all of a sudden "IT'S UNREALISTIC!"
So was "Man of Honor." They had to encapsulate many things to get the point across of Carl Brashear's life as a Navy diver. Hurt Locker did some of the same, but I have know some EOD guys and wanted to do it myself, so it wasn't wildly out of the park, like "Redacted," "Stop Loss" and now this movie.
When the entire top of the US Gov is portrayed as a bunch of evil, conspiring mainiacs, just for the sport of invading a country...not a peep from the press about "unrealitstic." Nope...it's actually more like the real world in their eyes, while a war flick that makes our men look like stand up guys is merely hyperbole and fiction.
Paul Rieckhoff who heads up Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Association stars in Green Zone, too.
