I feel compelled to comment about the sorry state of civilian/political-military relationships that the mere existence of this photo on a milblog represents. Time was most officers didn't even vote as they regarded it almost a sacred duty for the officer corps to remain apolitical, and most surveys in the post-war years between WWII and Vietnam found active duty types to be almost equally split between Dems and Republicans. We can blame an increasingly leftist and virulently anti-military Donkey Party for this state of affaires by driving most military types out of their camp. So if the Dems complain about an increasingly publically voluble politically conservative military establishment they have no one to blame but themselves.
