Diversity Thursday

Because like I say - it trumps all. It exists to justify itself. Our best Sailors are not needed at sea. We advance our best leaders by not having them lead at Sea.

Our best Sailors actively avoid Sea Duty.

Behold.

THE NAVY IS FOCUSING ITS EFFORT ON EMERGING TALENT MARKETS AND IS WORKING TO INCREASE FEMALE ACCESSIONS IN FY10. THE MOTIVATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG SAILORS AT RECRUIT TRAINING CENTER (RTC) GREAT LAKES IS A VITAL MISSION, ONE THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM THE PRESENCE OF OUTSTANDING FEMALE ROLE MODELS.
2. INCREASING FEMALE RECRUIT DIVISION COMMANDER (RDC) MANNING LEVELS ALIGNS WITH THE INCREASE IN FEMALE ACCESSIONS, HOWEVER, RDC MANNING COMPETES WITH OTHER SPECIAL SHORE PROGRAMS FOR OUR TALENTED FEMALE
ENLISTED LEADERS. A MODIFICATION TO THE CURRENT DETAILING ASSIGNMENT POLICIES IS REQUIRED TO ENSURE OUR NEW SAILORS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM OUR BEST FEMALE ENLISTED LEADERS. AS A RESULT,
FEMALE SAILORS CONSIDERING THIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY ARE BEING OFFERED SEA TOUR CURTAILMENT (UP TO ONE YEAR EARLY) OR SHORE TO SHORE ASSIGNMENT TO SERVE AS A RDC. THESE NEW OPTIONS ARE IN ADDITION TO THE BENEFITS RDCS ALREADY RECEIVE AS LISTED IN REF A. 3. RDC ASSIGNMENTS OFFER A NUMBER OF SIGNIFICANT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, DIVERSIFICATION, LEADERSHIP AND CAREER ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES. IF YOU ARE A HARD-CHARGING, DISCIPLINED FEMALE SAILOR, WHO POSSESSES STRONG CHARACTER AND PERSONAL INTEGRITY, AND WANT TO PURSUE THE MOST CHALLENGING
SAILORIZATION DUTY ASHORE, THEN THE NAVY WANTS YOU AS A RDC.
4. FOR INTERESTED SAILORS, SUBMIT A 1306/7 (ENLISTED PERSONNEL ACTION REQUEST), REQUESTING DUTY AS A RDC TO YOUR RATING DETAILER. REF A CONTAINS ALL SCREENING REQUIREMENTS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR WAIVER SUBMISSIONS. 5. QUESTIONS CONCERNING RDC DUTY SHOULD BE REFERRED TO THE NPC CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER (CSC), ([REDACTED])-U-ASK-NPC OR ([REDACTED]) 827 [REDACTED], OR EMAIL AT [REDACTED](AT)NAVY.MIL. THE CSC IS MANNED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 0700 TO 1900, CENTRAL STANDARD TIME.
6. RELEASED BY VADM MARK FERGUSON, N1.//
Of course, we don't want to discuss who will not be getting shore duty. Who will have to fill those unfilled sea duty billets. And we unquestionably do not want to know the reason why.

Afterall, Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

Good, they are going to need a lot of hard chargers to root out qualified recruits with science and technical education for Navy jobs when the Berkeley plan gains national traction. Then again, it's Berkeley.

No doubt that being an RDC is tough duty. What caught my eye was the line that asked for "Waivers". What kind of waivers? Can you do the duty, or not?

I wonder if waivers might be needed for single parent status. What kind of assistance will be given to single mothers? Can a single mother perform this duty?

Too many questions. I will go back to my coffee, now.

I am always happier NOT going to sea w/ females. Less drama.

"SAILORIZATION"???? YGBSM! Makes my head hurt with that kind of jibber-jabber!!!

MTH will be pissed at the plagerism. :)

Unbelieveable. The US is dropping farther behind in science education, so the "professional educators" redefine success downward and propose to shutter the courses that might actually fix the problem.

Let's see what another intellectual titan of the left has to say:

At least Ayaan Hirsi Ali seems to understand. Maybe the Diversity Diktat could actually, you know, listen to a woman's viewpoint on the other side:

Guest, Is what you said somehow offensive in any way, or couldit be construed as offensive? (sarc)

Prepare for monthly GMTs/required NKO trainings on what you can/cannot say.

Thinking:
I wonder what the next step for the social experimentation crowd will be after repealing (if successful) DADT? Weight standards removed (as we kick out many for this too, NAAFA might think this is discriminatory), polygamists admitted/sharia law held over UCMJ (in response to religious freedoms), illegal aliens accessed as path to US citizenship (vice citizenship to legal aliens; of course if amnesty goes fwd, there is no need to serve, just receive benefits). I am sure there are many, many more...especially in the benefits area.

Just thinkin ahead as we accelerate towards demise in the desire for "inclusion".

Good morning from the Pentagon.

GOH beat me to it; "Sailorization"? Beyond screwing the males who will be manning the weapon systems, 'Sailorization' makes me wretch. What kind of person thinks up cr@p like this? And then publishes it?

SCOTTtheBADGER said...

Sorry, when I post at work, I seem to come up 'guest', even when I log in. Why, yes, I was being intentionally snarky and sarcastic, I am a Badger, after all.

SCOTTtheBADGER said...

Is "Sailorization" the inculcation of the properties of Sailorocity?

Anthony Mirvish said...

If women sailors are needed as role models to encourage other women, does this mean that male sailors need men for their role models? Kind of blows the assumptions behind the whole gender-neutral project up right there if it does. After all, if it's just about the quality of leadership, then the gender of the RDC should not matter at all. Shouldn't all the recruits be equally happy saying, "Ma'am I want to be just like you!"?

WTF is sailorization? I saw this NAVADMIN the other day and shook my head...

The fact that they are singling out one particular gender aside; you can not learn to be a "sailor", as I am assuming sailorization must mean, ON SHORE DUTY!!!!!! Make them learn the leadership skills in the environment in which it was designed to be employed.

UltimaRatioRegis said...

"Ma'am I want to be just like you!"?

Once they get rid of DADT, that declaration may have more than one meaning.

It's Sailor-licicous! 8-)

Where are the Village People when we need them?

SJBill said...

What's this mean? Instead of OSs, they can be a "Booth Babe" for an NRC?

Spade said...

Well, on one hand I could understand wanting some of your best enlisted leaders training recruits. But I don't think it should come at the expense of what they're currently doing.

John said...

What have they done to my Navy?

Anyone who releases a message using the term "SAILORIZATION DUTY" is an idiot.

They should not be in the Navy, and darn sure should not be involved in recruiting, training, assignment or anything else.

Honestly, if the crap like "...DRAW OUR STRENGTH AND INNOVATION FROM THE DIVERSITY OF OUR NATION. THE NAVY IS FOCUSING ITS EFFORT ON EMERGING TALENT MARKETS..." is what the Navy leadership thinks is the Navy's most vital mission, then we should just quit wasting money on ships and planes. Turn the remnants of the Navy over to the Department of Health and Human Services to deliver meals on wheels and lead campfire singing of Kumbya or provide safe sex indoctrination for potential gays. That is about as useful as anything coming out of the Diversity Bully shop.

I am outraged that we are stealing money from our children and their children to waste on crap like this.

None of this prepares shipe for sea, or placing those ships in harm's way, or defeating our enemies. None of it!

Oh, FUN! We seldom get to have fun on Diversity Thursday! :D

Let's see what other words we can cobble together for use in further memos to the fleet!

Sailorectomy: Pulling a sailor off critical duty to make him/her perform recruiting functions
Sailorific: Just the best darn sailor in the fleet!
Sailorotomy: Removing a sailor's core values and replacing it with PC crapola
Sailorosion: The gradual wearing away of core resolve through the use of abrasive external forces
Sailorcide: Killing them outright

Gosh...I could do this all day!

Now there's some insightfull thinking. Exactly...this path leads to compromising any standard that makes anyone feel like they aren't getting what they want. As on Lex's blog, a comment indicated it's not about the service, it's now about individuals.

Not good for national defense, when any single voice can grind the systems to a halt until someone has their self esteem stroked (pun...well, maybe intended, maybe not). Thank you NEA for making this a cultural value, above your own National Security (hey: Which one is a the Constitutional job of the Federal Government?)

Greetings:

Somewhat, well waywhat, off topic, but why, in this day and age, are these naval messages still going out in "all caps" (all capital letters)? Hasn't anyone ever mentioned that "all caps" are less legible (harder to read) than type set in upper & lower case? It might have made sense back in the TTY days, but, hell, these is the computer age, isn't it?

xformed said...

And then when your DD hits your bank account every 15th and 1st, you shall be bouand be Federal spending regualtions, and no longer have your freedom to be a consumer.

Those pesky regualtions that are a staple of daily Fedearl life, applied to everyone, with a threat of imprisonment if you don't spend it correctly...

Or a sign or fthe inability to be creative on one's own.... :)

Had to look and see who the poster was 2x, GOH!

Not to mention the money we stole from our kids and grandkids to fund the Navy-sponsored Masters Degrees we gave to the folks who let "Sailorization Duty" proceed up the "chop chain". :)

Let me get this straight, the Navy wants to increase female ACCESSIONS by exposing new female recruits to ENLISTED LEADERS specifically motivated by SEA TOUR CURTAILMENT (UP TO ONE YEAR EARLY) OR SHORE TO SHORE ASSIGNMENT?

Or, might it really be that the NAVY needs to decrease PREGNANCIES THAT CAUSED WOMEN TO BE SHIFTED TO SHORE DUTY [over 11% (in 2007, the last year reported)] for a while before sending them to submarine duty?

You know good and well that the way that will be proposed to reduce pregnancies underway is to make vasectomies for the male sailors mandatory.

Unless you're gay. But, by then, you might have your own program to keep you from having to go to sea.

Greetings:

Back in the very early '80s, I was working for the Navy Publications & Printing Services as a civilian printer. I was checking the copy for a manual we were to print and I came across a a page with an illustration for the Navy's pregnancy uniform. At that point, I'm afraid I concluded that someone's Navy was going aground.

Regarding the lead-in comments, if they (whether male or female) are not or do not want to be at sea (or actively avoid sea duty), by definition they are not our "best" Sailors.

And the outcome: The not the best are put in place to train the replacements of the best. Right there you risk pulling the general knowledge base down.

Had a GSEC get orders to GL as a Company Commander. He wanted out. I told him he needed to go to make sure they he didn't see "unschooled" sailors show up aboard any ship. He was an incredible sailor, great leader and excellent tecnician and a serious team player, and I owe my great ENGO tour to he and few others who kept me looking good.

It was his regualr shore rotation, and his opportunity to do it right. He went and did very well...and then he went back to sea.

Imagine the uproar that would have ensued if this program had specifically sought MALE RDCs. Then look up the word "equal" in the dictionary.

Back in 1975 I was told that the purpose of the military was kill people and break things on the orders of the NCA and that anything that did not enhance our ability to do that was counter productive. Since then the vast majority of what has come down from upper flag level has been counter productive. It's a very good thing we have such a huge technological advantage over everyone we've had to fight in the last thirty years. As much time as we spend being politically correct, racially, gender and, now, sexual orientation sensitive, it's a wonder the military can operate at all. May God help us if we ever get into a fair fight. Imagine Bull Halsey in today's Navy. He wouldn't last a week. I'm glad I'm retired.

That's true, 11B, but I suspect the computer in question is a VAX/VMS using a TTY terminal. On a dial-up line. With an acoustic modem. Running 300 baud.

Have to pay for the LCS somehow. :-$

P.S. Or worse yet, it's an old IMSAI running CP/M with 64Kb of RAM...
