Parallel universe? I saw a movie on this once - in it the President of the US began seizing power from Congress in an attempt to create an all-powerful executive. This fictional character stated "since Congress cannot fix things, I will!" while unilaterally interpreting, changing and negating the laws passed by the legislative branch.
The writer of such a movie should be fired, one can only take suspension of disbelief so far you know!

Kwitcherbellyakin. Things are bad and headed south, but it used to be a lot worse. All we got to do is throw the rascals out and things will pick up.

I can never quite get used to it. Deploying to AFB a lot of personnel transit Manas AB, Kyrgyzstan. Stepping off the aircraft and seeing the cyrillic signs and Soviet era architecture brings back the halcyon days when knew who the bad guys were and where they at.
...and all of it to secure mineral rights for the Chinese... :P
