EMCON Bravo

Folks, I am about to drop in to places with limited IP connectivity until the middle of next week. I may be able to pop in and out of comments here and there - but I won't be able to post on late breaking news.

Don't worry though - I have pre-loaded posts for each day, so keep coming back. There are all sorts of goodies waiting for you. We're also having a Midrats best-of on Russia this Sunday at 5pm - so don't miss that either.

Set the troll watch and I'll see you next week.

EMREL  -  Emissions Release  vice  EMCON   (emissions control).

I recall back in 1970's or 80 's (?),   some Navy Admiral's Staff had us all putting " EMREL " plans in our various Op Orders, Op Plans, etc.

It didn't catch on,  thankfully.     Name changes just to create a "bullet" in your FITREP,  are really not good for our Fleet.   Unfortunately, the gotta-have-a-gimmick (bullet) for my Fitness Report idea, is becoming fairly prevalent, at least on the active duty military side of the house.

It is spelled EMCON and not EMCOM.

Be sure to post any hottie pics while you are on vacay.

Not to worry Sal, we'll make sure everything's neat and tidy upon your return.  We've already got a Field Day in the POW.  And we'll restock the fridge.  No, honest, you can trust us, it's not like there are any Airdales around to trash the place... 8-)

Nice comment, JHEY.  also liked your MILDEC by putting in that bullet point about "hottie pics."

Uh...who's got the keys to the grog locker? I know us MAs are supposed to have a key or a combo for everything but I got nothing on this one. And, ah, I was just checking out the watertight integrity of the space, make sure there were no leaks, don't want the ship to sink ya know ;)

Ewok, from up your way the brewery at the Gdansk Hotel has some damn fine beers...

One of my favorite authors, John Ringo, has an uber beer in one of his books called "Mountain Tiger". The ol lady who is the brew mistress said that light beer is "love in a small boat"...or, "Effing close to water" :)

Uh...no one told Lex about this, did they? He'd love to pay someone back for what certain people did to his place when him and his lovel wife went out of town for a wedding. And I swear, I have no idea who put a goldfish in his bottle of Pinch and Haig!

grist for the open post...

Commander Matt Weber, skipper of Freedom’s gold crew, doesn’t seem overly concerned, saying, “We have a lot of defensive weapons and we have speed. ... I just need to stay out of their (enemy’s) weapons envelope while I call for help. ... If we get jumped, we get out of Dodge.”

Hmmm

Now. Where Have I heard this before...?

Oh yeah.  From This guy...

"Speed equals protection..."

Didn't work out that way.

The guy on the left said it too...

But you can listen to the rest of his story....

Don't think you are immune to the same flawed expectation skipper....

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to fulfill it"
