Diversity Thursday

Next time you have a Sailor head to AFG, IRQ, or some other IA with incomplete kit - like I did - due to lack of funds and has to purchase on his own, have his wife mail items to him, or beg and borrow from the Army; think of this.

Next time base housing is short of funds; think of this.

Next time a parent has to rip a kid out of school because they couldn't PCS during the summer due to lack of funds; think of this.

Next time one of the Midshipmen at the academy is told "no" for something that supports leadership and academic achievement; think of this.
Diversity Outreach Efforts at USNA
Recipient: U.S. Naval Academy
Address: 121 Blake Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21402
Amount in FY 2011: $2,500,000
Purpose: For our military to most effectively protect our interests at home and abroad, they must represent the diversity and depth of our nation. As an institution that prepares individuals for leadership positions in our armed forces, the military service academies play an important role concerning the social representation of the military services. This funding will assist the Naval Academy in their efforts to expand diversity of applicants in order to better educate and train future officers who will lead a diverse force in service to our nation.
If you are from the 3rd Congressional District of Maryland, ask Rep. Sarbanes (D-MD). Also ask which civilian companies that money is going to. Then review the officers of that company and see where they contribute money. Just ask.

Priorities.

Just a funny aside. Look all over his site until you find "Democrat" anywhere. Worse than Where's Waldo.

It's better to be diverse than effective, I guess.  That is the role of a Global Force For Good, rather than a means of Force Application, whose job it is to bring death and destruction to our Nations' enemies.

Sarbanes is from MD it is understood he is a dem coming from Maryland, the People's Republic of.

Make no mistake, Rep. Steny Hoyer and Sen. Babs "I am *not* a troll" Mikulski play a big part in sending this pork to Annapolis.

Should be an interesting rematch between Bob Ehrlich and Marty O'Money later this year.  I predict mudslinging of Biblical proportions, as the DNC and RNC use their proxies-on-the-Severn to re-fight Health Care Refrom.

Every time I read about my good old alma mater doing something like this, it makes me want to scream. 2.5 million dollars?  I think that's how much they want to build a much needed new CBQ at NAS Kingsville (but construction is stalled due to lack of, you guessed it, money).

If I ever donate to USNA, I will be sure to include a caveat and request proof that it is spent in a manner that I see fit.

I guess I should have mentioned that second part as being on a separate but related note.

You mean people make MONEY off this too?  I thought they were just doing it for the pure fun and joy of destroying the Navy!

man, hit the nail on the head!  I was hearing about a meeting yesterday where it was said that "Joint Forceable Entry Operations" / Amphibious Assault is not longer "selling."  So folks want to decide the lift requirement based on Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Relief!

DB,

      Always follow the money.

When ever crap like diversity is added the question should be what is being replaced or dropped.  Funds are finite (whether our congresscritters understand that or not) and if spent on stupid BS like maintaining a band or satisfying the diversity bullies then it isn't being spent on defending or preparing to defend the nation.

Now Salty,

I was informed on more than one occasion that HA/DR would NOT be a major planning consideration for lift requirements, and that being a "Global Force for Good" would not diminish the warfighting mentality of the US Navy.

Killing people is just, like, SO non-post Americanism.

Elections have consequences and every country gets the government it deserves.  To the vast majority of Democrats the military exists as a social experimentation laboratory, a source of pork barrel jobs and not much else.  We, as a country, have brought this royal screwing upon ourselves.  Those of us no longer in uniform need to figuratively bust heads and stop this nonsense.

UltimaRatioRegis said...

Okya, okay.  "Figuratively".  I never get to have any fun..... >:o

"Priorities"

Seems to me the good Congressman should've just doubled down on the amount he requested togo to the USNI for historical preservation, and let it go at that.

Counting down the time until some of the usual suspects on the porch start complaining that funding USNI is the real "pork" here...tick...tick...tick...

I think SWMBO just put out a contract on ya! ;)

Just for the record...USNI and USNA are two totally separate entities.
