Diversity Thursday

This will pretty much write itself. 

Let me set a few points to ponder before you wade in to the offal.

1. Administrative burden: think about all the units this is going to. How may layers this will go through.

2. Cost: not just the hours spent in #1, but travel costs if anyone goes to receive any of these awards.

3. Mission: next time anyone in the USNR complains about lack of funds or manpower to do anything related to helping the warfighter, think of #1 & #2.

4. Note that Commander, Naval Reserve Forces Command is agreeing with the entering argument that, under her command, a command climate exists that requires her Sailors to need assistance,
... in overcoming discrimination and eliminating barriers that hinder equal opportunity
That when people mention servicemembers under her command, they assume white males. Otherwise, why would someone need to say,
...Service members including women and minorities ...
More than anything else, that should give you insight in to the retrograde mindset of these people. Who in 2016 thinks like that? Oh, that's right - those who owe their paycheck to keeping Sailors divided by race, creed, color or national origin. What pathetic people.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is soliciting nominations for the 2016 Roy Wilkins Renown Service Awards.

AWARD CRITERIA

1. The nominees distinguished themselves by promoting the tenets of civil/human rights, equal opportunity, human relations, and/or public service.
2. The nominees displayed exceptional character that distinguishes an individual as an outstanding leader, role model or mentor by promoting the development or advancement of all DoD personnel including women and minorities.
3. The nominees contributed to equal opportunity for advancement based on merit and fitness for all members of the Armed Forces and civilians, including women and minorities.
The nominees believed in and practiced the tenets of a democratic society, including the Declaration of Independence - the belief that all people are created equal, and that freedom is a right that must be protected at all times.
4. The nominees assisted in overcoming discrimination and eliminating barriers that hinder equal opportunity for all members of the Armed Forces and civilian employees including women and minorities.
5. The nominees supported the full integration and promotion of all DoD personnel to include minorities and women within the Armed Forces and civilian workforce.
6. The nominees created opportunities that support and contribute to the mentorship, development, advancement or retention of all personnel including women and minorities in government service consistent with merit principles.
7. The nominees created job or training opportunities that will support and contribute to advancement of all Service members including women and minorities in the Armed Forces or civilian workforce.

Awards will be presented to one military service member or Federal civilian employee from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Coast Guard, and the Defense Agencies. Selection of award recipients will be based on outstanding accomplishments according to the award criteria above during the period from July 1, 2014 to March 31, 2016.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is accepting nominations for 2016 LULAC Excellence in Service Awards.

Award winners will be presented at the 87th National Convention & Exposition's Defenders of Freedom breakfast on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in Washington, D.C.

Request for nominations. The LULAC Excellence in Service Award honors military members and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees, men and women, who have supported the LULAC priorities as well as the DoD mission, overseas contingency operations, or whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of their respective Military Service or other DoD Component.

Performance Period: May 2015 -May 2016

The LULAC priorities are: Civic Participation, Civil Rights, Economic Empowerment, Education, Health, Housing, Immigration, Public Service, and Technology. For detailed information on the LULAC priorities, please visit www.LULAC.org

Award Nominations and Submission:

a) All Military and Civilian award nominations should be submitted directly to LULAC for consideration via E-mail lulaceawards@lulac.org for receipt on or before COB May 2, 2016.

b) Awards will be offered to service members from the following Components: Army Active, Army Reserve, Army National Guard, Navy Active, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Active, Marine Corps Reserve, Air Force Active, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Coast Guard Active, and Coast Guard Reserve and from a Defense Agency, a DoD Field Activity, and/or a Combatant Command.

Seeking nominations for the 2016 Secretary of Defense Awards for Outstanding DoD Service Members and Civilian Employees with Disabilities ("individual awards"), and the 2016 Secretary of Defense Awards for Exemplary Achievements and Practices in the Employment of Individuals with Disabilities ("Component awards"). The recipients of the individual and Component awards will be recognized at the 2016 Disability Awards Ceremony, to be held in the Pentagon Auditorium on October 4, 2016.

This will be the first year that the DoD presents a new Component award in addition to the traditional Component award recognizing outstanding achievements and practices in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement of civilian employees with disabilities. This year we will also recognize one Component for outstanding efforts to build a team and develop and implement a proactive program to eliminate systemic barriers to information and communication technology.

Submissions must be sent to osd.ability@mail.mil with the subject "2016 Disability Awards Ceremony Submission" by close of business (1700 EST) on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 without exception.

One should also note that, personnel in the Reserve force are so disgusted that their time is being pushed to do this, that many of them took time off to send me the same emails.
