What is a BAM?
It is the sound you make when you hit the deck, what else would it be?

I always told my Marines that there is no shame in giving the last full measure and falling straight down to the ground!
It's the turds that take a knee and walk away when they are "out of strength" that you have to worry about.
Oh yeah, and don't lock your knees!
Salamander, you know good and well what a BAM is! (the sound of the head strike on pavement/wood is more like the sound of a bowling ball)
A BAM is a "broad-a** Marine", which sounds terrible, but they have names for us as well. HAMs, "hairy-a** Marines". Which just about covers it.
That...falls under the heading of "TMI"... :-[

Lots of people faint in formation before they figure out the whole "slight bend at the knee" thing. You lock your knees, you faint. I had a fainter in my first formation. He was a triathalon athlete. We gave him no end of ridicule for that.
Why is no-one helping her? Watch her die of heat exhaustion, is that the object of today's reindeer games? Hell, I've caught other Marines from falling and cracking their grapes open on a concrete deck. It tends to be helpful to keep an eye open for each other when standing in formation listening to a BS speech from someone retiring and proceeding to pasture.
So what exactly happened here? Shall we help her or leave her there to rot on a permanent basis?

For someone who says you aren't interested in what civilians think, you seem to care a lot about my opinion. Your own opinion of my views in this case is completely wrong. Of course, if it makes you feel better believing otherwise, enjoy yourself.

Female Marines always have the most squared away hair out of any branch.

My disbo did something similar @ XO call after a tough night of liberty in Subic. Chin-first onto the non-skid. Needed stitches.
And was put in hack for a couple of days.
The best is when you have a All Hands call underway. A wonderful benefit of being a YN is that you have to hand the awards to the CO during the ceremony. So, I don't have to stand in ranks. You just watch all the heads lean port to stbd throught the whole thing. That never gets old.
BAM's. Even old squids know that one...Cultural edification & GMT indeed.
