Child Sacrifice in Manchester

By any modern measure, the Roman Empire was a barbaric, brutal, and ruthless society built and maintained by slavery and slaughter. Yet, even to the Romans, the Carthaginians were considered nightmarishly brutal mostly due to one thing; child sacrifice to their god Ba’al Hammon.

We must also say something about her disasters and domestic misfortunes, just as Pompeius Trogus and Justin relate them. The Carthaginians have always had domestic and internal misfortunes. Because of this source of discord and its unhappy faculty of causing disturbance they have never yet enjoyed prosperity abroad, or peace at home. When they were suffering from plagues in addition to their other misfortunes, they resorted to homicides instead of to medicines; indeed they sacrificed human beings as victims and offered young children at their altars. In this way they aroused even the pity of the enemy.

Concerning this form of sacred rite—nay, rather of sacrilege—I am perplexed as to what I should discuss in preference to all else. For if some demons have dared to order rites of this character, requiring as they did that the death of men should be propitiated by human slaughter, it must be understood that these demons acted as partners and promoters of the plague and that they themselves killed those whom the plague had not seized; for it was customary to offer healthy and undefiled sacrificial victims. In doing this they not only failed to allay, but rather anticipated, the pestilences.

And so, in the modern context, we see another case in the United Kingdom, England usually, where once again the British people are more than willing to keep sacrificing their children to the post-modern god of national self-loathing begat in their own image.

This morning, how many families are in blind shock as they try to identify the seeping mass of scattered flesh in bags who were once their beautiful, happy, precocious teenage girls? How many mothers and fathers are pacing halls of hospitals wondering if their girls will survive? Will they walk again? Will they be able to see, hear - will they ever find a plastic surgeon good enough to make them pretty again?

How many girls too young to drive are standing in the shower in horrified tears, though they were untouched, yet they watch at their feet the dried blood of untold people rehydrate and fill the floor in a swirling soup of blood around the drain? How many with shaking hands do their best to pull the gore of shredded flesh, brains, bone and skin that overnight dried and knotted in their hair?

And for what? This did not happen by accident; this happened as a result of government policy over decades that enabled a huge mass of water for a fetid mass of Islamic terrorism to swim in.

Manchester is at the very heart of the UK, and just down the road, a little over 40 miles, from another of their scenes of child sacrifice, Rotherham. Yes, Rotherham, where those with the charter to serve and protect decided that it was best to look the other way as thousands of young girls were groomed as sex slaves by gangs of South Asian men. They looked the other way because they were afraid of the Orwellian PC culture that infests their Metropolitan Police and judicial leadership to the point that basic things such as free speech and protecting girls from pedophiles are of secondary importance not being called bad names, and as such – serve the career interests of police leadership and protect their jobs.

We know now, as fully expected, that the 20-something attacker whose name I will not use here, was “known” to authorities.

They did nothing.

There is a broad range of things that can be done, and yet still respect the rights of honest British subjects of all backgrounds – and yet they do nothing.

Last year, the Government admitted just 14 of nearly 400 returnee fighters have been jailed, raising fears the rest are living off the radar and may be vulnerable to radicalisation.

Until that figure is 386/400, the British are still not serious. People who fight for ISIS are no different than someone who was a member of an SS Einsatzgruppen, and should be treated as such ... like a returning British citizen in 1944 would have been treated who was a member of one in 1941 would be.

That is just one example. The no-go zones, speech laws, and hate-spewing Imams are just a few others.

As I have said over the years, the European failure to control their borders, defend their culture, and demand assimilation by those who come will, in time, force them to become something they don’t want to be.

Responsible, mainstream politicians need to take action before the people eventually turn to irresponsible, fringe politicians who promise to take action.

Some think the slaughter of the Manchester innocents might be a moment of change, but I don’t know if there has been a full ripening yet.

OK. Enough. Perhaps I made my point, but perhaps not.

That does not include the hundreds, perhaps in all over a 1,000 now with major, life changing physical injuries they will carry the rest of their lives. Then you have the untold scores of thousands who are immediate family members and loved ones whose lives will never be the same … and so on.

And yet, the people are supine and the leaders accepting.

There will be more attacks. I actually think we in the West have been lucky. Many of the vignettes we have known as low hanging fruit for years, as simple and effective as the one in Manchester, have yet to take place – but they will.

“Rivers of blood.” Well, yes – you have that Britain, in a fashion.

You welcomed it with eyes wide open.

Islamists & the Left; The Popular Front Against Liberty

My brief flirtation with the left as a young man was initiated by a mistaken assumption that it was the left that was that guardian of individual liberty, free speech, free association, and the right of the individual to live their lives as they see fit. It was a place to be united against the monied interests that exploited the people for their own personal gain.

Whelp.

One thing I could not get past as I read, argued, and pondered in the mid-80s was their constant inability to oppose the soul crushing international Communist movement. I'm not sure what was the exact tipping point for me, but it was somewhere along and understanding of the left's long record of promoting the blood soaked Communists in Central America (I grew up around Cubans, so that was in the air). That set the stage for a dust up I had concerning the genocide in Ukraine that broke first in the open while I was in college. The same gaggle that prattled on about Western imperialism in the previous centuries showed no interest in the horrors of Stalin's Soviet Union - something as distant to then as the Vietnam War is to today.

In a paragraph, I guess that is as good as a description of a critical juncture of my final pivot as any.

In the years since, I have come to realize that the Western left's love of Communism was a combo of a few items. First, as the distilled essence of the political left, Communism had to be defended or at least excused in order to protect the fringes of the vital center, Socialism. The selfish seduction of both of these political ideas once you got past the window dressing of helping he "working class," was that they gave the promise of power to leaders of the movement. A lot of power for a few people who had the will to use it.

Power, on both the personal and macro levels, is a drug - a drug people have an innate desire to get, hold, and enjoy.

In the stew of a lust for power, there was another flavoring - self-loathing. In the tightened eyes, curled lips, and strident tones through clenched teeth, you could feel their loathing of the nation and the culture that they were born to. Trust fund leftists like Katrina vanden Heuvel are perfect examples of such creatures. They were rarely happy about much, but they loathed so much. Anything that loathed their nation or culture as much a they loathed it was their friend. For much of the 20th Century, Communism was it - so regardless of what it represented, it was a friend to be excused and supported.

Of course, hard core Communism is gone from the world scene except for the college campus and a few nation-state freak shows. For the left, the lack of a threat to the West and the fruits of the Enlightenment created a void that had to be filled, but with what?

In the immediate post-Communist era, the left searched long and hard for another effective tool to exercise their self-loathing.

The Green movements was the first place they migrated to. It held the promise for power, money and influence, but never really got an electoral footing and as such, limited the ability to leverage great power. It enriched a few poseurs like Al Gore and brought various tomato EuroGreen parties in to partnership of a few governments, but it never really took off. 

Green anti-West agiprop is easily countered as the worst offenders of the Green Goddess are non-Western. Still, it was and is effective on the margins for useful idiots, but only as a bit player.

For the bloody minded left, there was still nothing that held the romantic threat to core Western values. Nothing made the hated West blanch in fear ... until it became clear after 11 September 2001.

Islamism was it. Islamism would be the new club.

Each year since, their partnership has grown. The left have put to the side those things they like to say they support; feminism, LGBT rights, freedom of speech, etc - in order to embrace their romantic blood soaked fringe.

This time, it isn't Ché'a beret, but the hijab and black-and-white Palestinian Keffiyeh.

It is harder to spot weld on to the left's usual line-up of public consumption causes, but that won't stop them from trying.

For the last few years, the left have gotten their footing and with the remaining backwash from the remnant Communists, they are back as a factor. With Obama out of office, they have a clear range. 

Easy or already compromised targets are where they have tried out their new verve; their greatest success as of late has been at our weakest point; our universities.

They fold quickly to the Antifa & Islamist shock troops. Not just in the USA, but the entire West, especially the Anglosphere. As such, they will keep going and will expand their spectrum of excuses to violence until they find stiff resistance. That is why each surrender will just make the eventual stand harder, more costly, and deadlier.

The latest example is the shameful retreat from support to one of the lions of The Enlightenment, Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

The news that Ayaan Hirsi Ali has cancelled her speaking tour of Australia due to ‘security concerns’ should concern anyone who believes in freedom. It is a dark day when a woman who fled to the West to escape the Islamist suffocations of Somalia, and precisely so that she might think and speak freely, feels she cannot say certain things in certain places. That even a Western, liberal, democratic nation like Australia cannot guarantee Hirsi Ali the freedom to speak her mind without suffering censorship or harm is deeply worrying. It points to the mainstreaming of intolerance, to the adoption by certain people in the West of the illiberalism that makes up the very Islamist outlook that Hirsi Ali and others have sought to escape.

Hirsi Ali’s Oz tour, ‘Hero of Heresy’, had been due to kick off this Thursday. She would have visited Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, hosted by Think Inc., an organisation devoted to ‘the promotion of intellectual discourse’. But today, citing, among other things, ‘security concerns’, Think Inc. announced the tour was off.

The more people depict certain ideas as unfit for public life, the more they send out a signal that the people who hold those ideas are dangerous and wicked, and possibly fair game for violence. They branded Hirsi Ali an enemy of public order and decency, no doubt making it easier for others to fantasise about punishing her. They said she would harm Australia and its Muslims, no doubt giving others the idea that she should therefore be kept out of Australia by any means necessary.

Where some want to crush the likes of Hirsi Ali or Charlie Hebdo with laws and bans, others want to crush them with violence. Different means, yes; but these two sections of society, the chin-strokers and the gun-strokers, share the same aim: to silence people whose ideas they dislike. The bookish censor lends moral authority to the violent censor. From the failure to stand up for Salman Rushdie to the No Platforming of the likes of Hirsi Ali today, too many thinkers in the supposedly tolerant West unwittingly give a nod of approval to efforts to shut down ‘dangerous’ people. The signal we should be sending to society is not that some ideas are too dangerous for public life, but that no ideas, even ridicule of Islam, will ever be silenced or punished; that it is unacceptable ever to harm someone simply for what they think and say.

Shame. Shame on everyone on the left - and shame on everyone else for surrendering again.

Stand up people and call these leftists out.

If you ever find yourself sitting next to someone at a feminist march wearing the symbol of patriarchal oppression, or Jew-hating terrorism - you may want to re-evaluate your political decisions.

If you find yourself making excuses for being led by convicted terrorists, or are in alignment with people who proudly mimic blood soaked political movements of the past - you may want to re-evaluate your political decisions.

In any event, don't get all butthurt when others look at you for what you are; a tool or a fool.

Germany is Turning Itself in to What it Didn't Want to Be

As the waves upon waves of migrants from the Arab world and Africa started to break in greater and greater numbers across the shores of Europe a few years ago, I warned that if they did not find some way to keep these teeming millions out - and return as many as possible back that were already there - that eventually this would force the European nations to be something that they did not want to be. The mainstream Center-Left and Center-Right parties would have to become more nationalistic or the people would continue to turn to parties and individuals who did not share liberal ideals.

No one, not the indigenous population nor recent legal immigrants would be better for it. All is unfolding with almost mathematical precision.

The problem of growing pockets of unassimilated colonies was already there and growing. Merkel's suicidal decision to look like a great humanitarian by welcoming in over a million military aged unemployable men only threw accelerant on to the swelling discontent of the indigenous population who felt they were losing their nations - which they are.

It is 2017 now, and we find Germany, the heart of Europe, here;

In a guest editorial for the influential daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the federal interior minister surprised his party and the entire country with his concept of a "strong state." At almost the exact same time, Sigmar Gabriel, the head of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), Merkel's junior coalition partner, presented a paper with his own ideas for a revamped security policy. Gabriel, who is Merkel's vice chancellor, demanded a tougher approach to potentially violent Salafists. "I am in favor of zero tolerance," he told SPIEGEL in an interview this week.

Germany, de Maizière wrote in his op-ed, is not sufficiently prepared for the crises and catastrophes of our times. The interior minister currently oversees more than 60,000 people working for the Federal Criminal Police Office, the federal police force, the domestic intelligence agency BfV and other agencies, and he believes changes are necessary. The federal government, he now believes, needs greater leverage to control all of the country's security agencies. He says that more video surveillance is needed as is the expanded use of facial recognition technology and beefed-up personnel. The state, he believes, must become stronger.

The image of the gray semi-truck in the middle of an idyllically decorated square marks a turning point for Germany. Islamist terror has arrived in full force. It is no longer merely apparent in the form of arrests and investigations, no longer present in speeches about "abstract threats" and the serious expressions on the faces of security agency heads following the comparatively minor attacks of last summer. Islamist terror has now struck at the heart of German culture -- a Christmas market shortly before Christmas Eve.

And the facts speak for themselves: German security agencies were unable to prevent the attack despite the fact that its perpetrator, Anis Amri, had been known for months to be an Islamist threat. Numerous agencies had files on him, they were aware of his contacts to Islamic State and they knew that he had searched the internet for bomb-building instructions.

Even the Green Party is calling for more security and police presence, something unthinkable just a few years ago. Party co-chair Cem Özdemir has said that his party will play a constructive role in the discussion over Interior Minister de Maizière's proposals.

The shift was also noticeable in the relative lack of criticism aimed at Cologne police for resorting to racial profiling to prevent a repeat of last new year's eve sexual assaults. The debate's paradigm has shifted.

Unlike past terrorist problems in Germany with The Red Army Faction and similar Communist cells that were political in nature - the latest threat is religious and ethnic. It is easier to undermine the Strategic Center of Gravity for political terrorist organizations; you just remove the political underpinnings and people will adopt a new political philosophy with less militant aspects - in this case, the Green Party or Die Linke.

It is a completely different effort to go after religious and ethnic based violence. One is exceptionally difficult to change - the other almost impossible to change inside generations of assimilation - if that.

To one degree or another, this totally avoidable disaster is playing out roughly along the lines expected. The post-war global Western liberal consensus is being torn apart by its own internal contradictions that keep its political mechanisms paralyzed to inaction.

If not for the political and personal cowardice by politicians from both sides of the aisle who were afraid of being called names or not being invited to the right conferences and dinner parties, the present situation would not exist. Sure, certain newspapers and magazines would call them nasty things, paint them as uncaring, and the usual suspects would tut-tut them to try to hurt their feelings  - but the nation they are trusted with would not be subject to a permanent deployment of military forces policing streets from a threat coming from within. Large segments of their major cities would not be "no-go" areas for public services. Rape would not become common.

How can a nation focus on a growing Russia when their own people cannot walk the streets in fear of a self-isolated foreign power holding sway in large parts of their cities?

Why did this come to pass?

Is starts with more than a little willful disregard for human nature and history in the modern era's governing class. In a strange alignment with various socio-political power centers - lessons learned by previous generations' blood and treasure is ignored.

This disregard is driven by three well meaning mental aspirations, and four malignancies.

First of all there is simply a desire not to address uncomfortable questions driven out of "polite conversation" by the same people who caused the discomfort.

Second, we have a certain narcissism in our governing class who feel they are better than those generations that came before. They can shape things better because they are smarter. With just enough money and virtue signaling, they can make it so that we can all live in a rainbow world powered my unicorn poop.

Third, tied in with that narcissism of virtue, is a narcissism of the now. "What are people saying about ME now? What support am I getting NOW." There is little desire to look at 2nd and 3rd order effects - what the compounding in time will do. Even less is a desire to make decisions that will create positive effects for their citizens in the future if it does not help their virtue signaling now.

Indeed, for some, they don't even like their fellow citizens and don't care about those people's future - they want a New Citizen. 

That leads to the malignancies.

Those three aspirations all have to do with a desire for social acceptance and popularity - an adult version of middle school social positioning. There are also reasons that have to do with a darker side of the psyche that lead to the four malignancies.

First, as you have here in the USA, there is the cultural self-loathing from the left and those seduced by the social capital that comes from being on the "good right" (see David Brooks). They want to pull themselves up as separate from their host culture by doing all they can by bring that culture down to a lower level. For whatever reason, they hate the nest they were born to. Unable to find self-worth in themselves, they can only hope to destroy that which they blame for their own inadequacies. All the good of the West is ignored or smeared - every mistake or bad point brought in to focus, exaggerated and used as a club to beat to a pulp all that is good.

Second are the grasping seekers of cheap labor. Squeezing every possible bit of margin to compete against the sweat shops of the world. Industries can gain only so much by automation in the face of a developed society's wage pressures. As such, they use their influence to bring in "guest workers" who will do for low wages what native born will not do. They never leave, and their children won't do that work, so more imports need to come. That is easier to do than attacking unfair trade practices - and is easier to get allies that will support for other reasons than economic ones.

Problem is, these low-cost, unskilled labor come from cultures that are not compatible with their host nations, they do not assimilate, and are not encouraged to. A manageable issue with the 1st generation with a small number, but when that unassimilated mass becomes 10%, 20% and the 50% of cities? Then what? Well, the people who first invited them made their money and are dead. Their children and grandchildren will have to deal with Molenbeek.

Third is something related to cultural self-loathing, and that is compassion pimping. Like those who feed their dog cheap food and lock them in a kennel - yet give money to the ASPCA - the compassion pimps want to show how much they care about others far away, while ignoring those already in their care. Not the poor down the street or in their own family - no that is too close and uncomfortable. Better to show how much you care by inviting in masses of problems that will live in "other people's" neighborhoods, go to school with other people's kids, go to public swimming pools - not in your gated community, not to your private school, not in your personal pool, not dating your daughters and sons.

Fourth and most cynical is voter replacement. One of the best ways to control populations is to keep them distinct. Give them something arbitrary that keeps them in a box, and then have that box as a reliable part of your voting block. If you don't like the fact that the French speaking part of Belgium isn't growing as fast as the Dutch speaking part? Simple fix; import French speakers from North Africa. Keep them isolated, but make them citizens as soon as you can so they can vote. Or, in the USA - like California - issue them drivers' licenses even before the become citizens so they can vote. In all cases, bring them in from cultures that see the government as a source of patronage - and reinforce that fact. Make sure you are seen as the party of government. Make sure they know who is on their side - and who is not.

History shows this never ends well - but if no one is encouraged to look at history and you don't teach in anymore - who is going to warn you? How will you know?

Of course, none of this happens in isolation. Eventually there is a reaction. The original inhabitants will, if ignored by mainstream and responsible politicians long enough, look to other places. They will begin to radicalize if they feel they need to in order to have their concerns addressed. Pressure will build and can only be contained so long.

This has been coming for a long time - that evening of drinks I had with a table full of Scandinavian military officers a decade ago, listening to them discuss what is not discussed openly in polite society, made that clear to me. The migrant crisis has only quickened things.

One little note; a major reason Europe has enjoyed so many decades of peace following WWII is the huge amount of state-sanctioned ethnic cleansing that took place from the Volga to the Rhine. This removed many of the simmering problems related to ethnic minorities stirring up trouble.  Poles were forced at the end of a bayonet to Poland. Germans to Germany. Italians to Italy ... and for the most part that is what happened. Ugly, but effective and probably already saved the lives of tens of millions.

Not content to enjoy the good harvest from the bloody sacrifice of the post-war migrations, the Europeans decided to import an even harder problem.

The solution is not going to be pleasant for anyone - and the bad stuff hasn't even happened yet. Anyone who thinks this has a happy ending is a fool. 

You can have your liberal welfare state, or you can have mass 3rd World immigration. You can't have both.

The Garland Texas Skirmish

If you don't already know about the little Long War skirmish that took place Sunday in Garland, TX ... then catch up.

You are part of the problem and not part of the solution if you have no desire to defend the fruits of The Enlightenment. Even speech that you find distasteful must be defended. 

Even if you do not like the person speaking, you should be the first person to defend them.

A free people have the right to display their lack of good taste, brilliance, poor manners, exquisite breeding, stupid ideas, and wonderful insight - notice there is no "should" in there.

This is natural law. People have the right to offend; people do not have the right not to be offended. 

Inoffensive speech does not need to be defended - that is not what free speech is about. Unpopular and offensive speech is what needs defending; what must be defended.

When someone is under attack for speaking unpopular opinions to the point they are physically, professionally, or otherwise threatened to silence, everyone should come to their defense.

It all started so innocent enough;

The inaugural Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest hosted by Pamela Geller’s American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) is sold out and ready for Sunday evening’s festivities. The event is billed as an expression of free speech said to be under attack from radical Islamic groups like those who attacked Charlie Hebdo in January. The exhibit will be held on Sunday, May 3, at the Curtis Culwell Center, 5-7 p.m., in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas.

“At a time when American Muslim groups in the US should have stood up for free speech and showed the world the way forward, they chose to stand with the Hebdo jihadists,” said Geller in an January email to Breitbart Texas.

Breitbart Texas previously reported that Democratic U.S. Representatives Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN)and André Carson (D-IN) have tried to block Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders from entering the United States and appearing at the inaugural event. They co-authored a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, asking them to block Wilders’ entry.

And in a fashion, Garland represents a good example about how to do it right - let ideas compete in the marketplace - in a fair and peaceful manner;

Pamela Geller is planning a “Draw the Prophet” event in Garland, Texas in the same location as a Muslim group held a “Stand with the Prophet” conference in January. The First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest will be hosted by the Curtis Caldwell Center, which is owned and operated by the Garland Independent School District.

As usual though, when someone is insecure or knows their ideas are inferior and cannot survive a fair airing - they seek peace through removal of the other side.

From the hothouse flowers in out universities who need a safe place and a hug if they are exposed to any contrary thought, to two guys attacking an event in Texas - we need to redouble our efforts to push back. We don't need cowards like The Daily Mail, who are more than happy to write about the attack - and then give in like a dhimmi by blacking out the pictures in the background.

Everyone should publish one of these cartoons. They cannot kill us all. As we saw yesterday - the odds are in our favor anyway. If you are going to start a gunfight in Texas, you had better bring your A-game.

Just like Hasan's attack at Ft. Hood - this is part of the long war. Even cartoons.

The Wages of Moral Relativism at DoS

On Friday March 8, Michelle Obama will join John Kerry at a special ceremony at the State Department to present ten women the Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award. The award, says the press release, is given to “women around the globe who have shown exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment, often at great personal risk.”

The only problem is that one of the women to be recognized is an anti-Semite and supports the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

Samira Ibrahim, as the State Department’s profile describes her, “was among seven women subjected by the Egyptian military to forced virginity tests in March 2011.” The press release further notes that Samira “was arrested while in high school for writing a paper that criticized Arab leaders’ insincere support to the Palestinian cause.” Apparently, the State Department is unaware of her other convictions. ... On July 18 of last year, after five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver were killed a suicide bombing attack, Ibrahim jubilantly tweeted: “An explosion on a bus carrying Israelis in Burgas airport in Bulgaria on the Black Sea. USMC Plays Weak Horse

One Marine had the right idea - the other one decided to be a dhimmi.

A controversial decision by local commanders to again refer to a Beaufort F-18 squadron as the "Crusaders" has been reversed by a three-star general, according to Marine Corps officials.

Lt. Gen. Terry Robling, deputy commandant for aviation, issued an order April 30 that Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 discontinue use of the Crusaders moniker and a logo that featured a red cross on a white shield. The squadon will retain its identity as the "Werewolves," said Lt. Col. Joseph Plenzler, a Corps spokesman.

Robling's order came about a month after the unit's commanding officer, Lt. Col. Wade Wiegel, announced during a 70th anniversary party that the unit would again be known as the Crusaders, a nickname used by the unit from 1959 to January 2008.

In 2008, it was changed back to its World War II-era nickname, the Werewolves, before a combat deployment to Iraq later that year. The name change was partly because unit commanders thought the Crusaders nickname would not be well-received by Iraqis and others in the region.

There is nothing wrong with Crusader ... unless you are intellectually lazy, a cultural masochist, and a person whose first instinct is to volunteer to play bottom to anyone who looks at you sideways.

What can you do with the historically ignorant, and the weak minded who in a most patronizing way give bullies what they want.

All the other dhimmi can hold their manhood cheaply as they advertise their lack of confidence in their own military cultural heritage.

Our military heritage derives from the British. Their military culture has a firm and direct connection to Richard the Lionheart. Do I need to keep pulling this thread? Do we need to review the intellectual laziness of judging our ancestors by today's standards? Do we really need to review the defensive nature of the Crusades after the advance of Islamic armies into the Christian Levant and North Africa through Byzantium prior and during the period of the Crusades? I really shouldn't.

This is just the latest.

The U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan withdrew all international military personnel from Afghan government ministries in Kabul yesterday after two more Americans were killed on the fifth day of violent protests over the burning of the Koran at a coalition military base.

The two, a lieutenant colonel and a major, were both shot in the back of the head in the heavily guarded Interior Ministry, according to Western officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to disclose the information. The Taliban claimed responsibility, saying it was retaliation for the burning of the Muslim holy book.

Why? Simple: weakness.

The events of the last week are just another reminder that we find ourselves on a well worn path to defeat. We knew the path was there, but we took it anyway. The reason was simple - we picked the wrong point man.

Our leaders and their people live in a parallel universe. It is past amateur hour - this is professional malpractice writ large.

U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker and Robert Gibbs, Obama's former press secretary, said they believe Afghan President Hamid Karzai's fragile government could collapse and the Taliban would regain power if the U.S. were to walk away.

"This is not the time to decide that we're done here," said Crocker. "We have got to redouble our efforts. We've got to create a situation in which al-Qaida is not coming back."

Added Gibbs, "What the president's trying to do now is get us to a point where we can hand off the security of Afghanistan to the Afghans and that we can bring our troops home."

Do they actually listen to themselves? To the AFG ear - we have already announced that we are walking away. The President has stated he wants to walk away. We are not redoubling our efforts - we are shortening our withdraw timeline; AKA retreating faster.

The Obama Administration was given a path to success - the uplift of forces in '08-09 that would help create the conditions to have a better chance of victory - but they threw it away. The AFG people live in a world of actions, not words. Crocker and Gibbs should both be ashamed of themselves.

As we are not acting like we are in it to win it - is it too early to ask the question: When is the point where we question the morality of asking one more family to give their son or daughter's life in AFG?

From the President to the uniformed Commander in Kabul - I see nothing but weakness. We show nothing but weakness to those who value nothing more than strength. In a way - I don't blame the AFG people from turning on us. They have to live there - and if they know we are leaving and in our wake we put the Karzai government to sort things out - they would be a fool not to start to accrue some street-cred with those who seem to be the power in waiting.

Weakness and defeat. We signal it in AFG - and we signal it at home.

This afternoon, Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) President Imam Mohamed Magid hosted an event featuring senior Pentagon officials and U.S. Military Chaplains. The event served as an opportunity for the Department of Defense (DoD) to deliver an official apology for the actions of American soldiers in Afghanistan who unknowingly burned Qurans at Bagram Airfield on Monday.

Speakers included Dr. Peter Lavoy, Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asia and Pacific Security Affairs, ISNA President Imam Mohamed Magid, and U.S. Military Chaplain Lt. Col. Abdul Rasheed Muhammad.

Assistant Secretary Lavoy apologized on behalf of the DoD to the American Muslim community and assured attendees that the Quran burnings were an unfortunate mistake. He highlighted the many diverse faiths represented in the U.S. military and the strong commitment by the DoD to respect each and every one of those religious beliefs equally. He also assured attendees that the military is investigating the incident and all troops are being retrained in the handling of religious materials.

That is an unforced error in the extreme. Diplomacy isn't about an unending apology tour. When we act in this way; all we do is advertise a passive-receptive attitude that has never commanded respect. The Romans had a term for it, Cinaedus - look it up.

Of course - they are no women of any type to be seen because ISNA is a home of radical Islamists; misogynistic, backward looking, supremacists who have no desire to join the Western ideal of openness, freedom, and equality.

That visit to ISNA is sad and a disservice not only to our nation as a whole - but to the good, modern American Muslims we live, work, and go to school with.

We deserve this whirlwind that is only now starting - we voted for it.

When he toured several African nations 18 months ago as his presidential campaign was gearing up, Sen. Barack Obama engaged in the time-honored practice of American politicians visiting foreign countries: he was photographed wearing local garb.

The photograph, taken in the summer of 2006, re-emerged Monday in this year's hotly contested presidential campaign, after a report that staffers working for Hillary Clinton sent reporters the photo, which shows Obama wearing a turban and native Kenyan clothing.

This is a great way to get yourself killed.

In an effort to get closer to the local population, American female soldiers stationed in Afghanistan are being encouraged to wear a Muslim headscarf when interacting with civilians. But some question whether the practice constitutes cultural sensitivity or a form of appeasement that is degrading to U.S. soldiers.

Major Kyndra Rotunda, executive director of the Military Law and Policy Institute and AMVETS Legal Clinic at Chapman University, told The Daily Caller that while the women are not being ordered to wear the head scarf, encouragement is tantamount to a demand.

“They say they are encouraging women to wear the headscarf when they are out and about and on patrol. But the problem is — and I think anyone who has been in the military understands that being encouraged to do something is about the same thing as being ordered — it really puts them in an uncomfortable position when their commander says, ‘We really want you to do this, technically you don’t have to, but we really want you to do this,’” she said.

No kevlar = no protection = brain injury or death.

Not to mention all the dhimmitude and weak horse issues.

Diversity Thursday

It is difficult for many who have not been there to understand the power of the Diversity Bullies in the military. They have - and will - destroy careers in a whiff and whim.

There remains very little top-cover. In the USA - and especially the US military - we are light years away from the tender first-steps Merkel, Cameron, and Sarkozy have made towards the multi-culti cult that suppressed clear thinking.

The Ft Hood shooter continues to be a great teaching tool. Dorthy Rabinowitz at the WSJ just knocks it out of the park. Read it all - but here is the chewy bit.

In November 2010, each branch of the military issued a final report on the Fort Hood shooting. Not one mentioned the perpetrator's ties to radical Islam. Even today, "A Ticking Time Bomb," co-authored by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I., Conn.) and Susan Collins (R., Maine), reminds us that DoD still hasn't specifically named the threat represented by the Fort Hood attack—a signal to the entire Defense bureaucracy that the subject is taboo.

He was a star not simply because he was a Muslim, but because he was a special kind—the sort who posed, in his flaunting of jihadist sympathies, the most extreme test of liberal toleration. Exactly the kind the progressive heart finds irresistible.

A decision as to whether Maj. Hasan will go to trial—it would be before a military court-martial —should be forthcoming next month. He stands charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder, committed when he turned his laser equipped semi-automatic on members of the military at the Soldier Readiness Center. The likelihood is that the trial will go forward. If it does, the forces of multiculturalist piety, which played so central a role in advancing this Army major and concealing the menace he posed, will be the invisible presence on trial with him.

In the long war that we are in, one of the most important things we need is something that is often the hardest to find - intellectual courage.

It is easy to sell a bit of your soul to keep yourself comfortable and with the friends you have become accustomed to.

This week we saw something we should all encourage. Read it all - but study in detail what happened to Juan Williams and how he responded to it.

Yesterday NPR fired me for telling the truth.

Juan, BZ. At least you can look yourself in the mirror in the AM.

This Long War will in many ways be a war of ideas and culture. Some of our greatest enemies own a USA passport and would never think of blowing up anything or killing a fly - but they can do things much worse.

One, two, a thousand Juan Williams - we need them. Oh, and while we are needing to save money - totally defund PBS/NPR et al. Live in the marketplace of ideas or die - two can play at this game. You try to destroy Juan's income, he prospers. I guess we can try to take your income away - good luck to you.

Sal, what about the Ground Zero mosque?

A lot of you have emailed bits about the mosque proposed near Ground Zero since the very start, and others have emailed me since asking why I have yet to comment on it. Well, as I wait for the family to wake up so I can mow the yard - here you go.

I haven't for a simple and selfish reason; disgust. Almost 5 years ago, back in SEP 05 I did a post titled, "NYC to build Mosque at WTC site."

I remember picking that title as it was one of the most mindless actions I could think of. It was, of course, a parody. It was the only think I could think of that was worse than what they proposed on the site of Flight 93's impact area.

Then, as now, things are rather simple. Let me be lazy and quote myself from SEP 05 - it applies to the then "parody-now-fact" as well.

This is complete madness. Like a lot of these things it boils down to one or two things:

1. The designers, politicians, and judges are completely ignorant rubes who were not homeschooled by Anne and therefore have no knowledge of history, symbols and propriety.

2. The designers knew exactly what they were doing and the politicians, judges and citizens are so paralyzed by political correctness and afraid of being called nasty names that they cannot and will not stop this affront to decency.

I don’t buy #1. Say what you want about the designer’s politics, but they are not ignorant and uneducated. My next travel claim is on #2.

I love NYC - not an easy thing for a Southerner to say. NYC, however, is ruled by fools.

Frankly, I just didn't have time to post on it earlier - and others higher up in the food chain did, so I felt it was covered well enough.

It is a lesson worth repeating though. This is a long war. This is a war of civilizations. This is a war for the Enlightenment. This is a war where our enemy has both a longer view and is fighting inside our lines.

It is a war where we must have the courage to stand up for the basics of freedom. That is where the cancer of Diversity and PC thought hurts so much. It promotes self-doubt and self-loathing. Self-doubt and self-loathing is where cultural bullies with a political mindset - Fascists and Communists are/were best at this kind of stuff - flourish.

What happend to Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks is a perfect example. Force yourself to watch it all.



With the weak response to their attacks the Islamists did what all authoritarians do - they attacked harder.

The home of a Swedish artist who once drew a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad as a dog has been hit by a suspected arson attack, police said Saturday.

Lars Vilks, who lives in Nyhamnslage in southern Sweden, was not at home during the attack late Friday night and no one was reported injured.

It was the latest in a week of attacks on the 53-year-old cartoonist, who was assaulted Tuesday by a man while he lectured at a university and saw his Web site apparently attacked by hacker on Wednesday.

Police were alerted just before noon Saturday, as people passing by the artist's house noted that several windows had been smashed. When officers arrived, they discovered plastic bottles filled with gasoline and fire damage on the surface of the building. Attackers are also suspected of having tried setting the inside of house on fire, but the flames are thought to have fizzled out.

Police have no suspects in the case, police Spokeswoman Sofie Osterheim said.

This will continue to get worse and worse until the West stands up for itself. It is Sharia via cultural cowardice.

If the West's weak-willed, self-loathing Left and Center-Left does not start standing up - the Islamists will push harder and harder. Over time, more of the indigenous center of the countries under pressure will look for other places to defend their freedom. They will start to make our buddy Outlaw Mike look like a Social Democrat.

The West's options are simple. Defend yourself now and those like Lars Vilks and the late Theo Van Gogh, submit to Sharia, or wait for open social conflict where blood will blow and bodies will lie rotting in the open.

Option 1 is the best; sure you will be called names and be yelled at by the ignorant - but it is much better than the other two.

Like I said before - watch Sweden around Malmo, the northern suburbs of Paris, Belgium around Brussels, The Netherlands around Rotterdam and Amsterdam for the first signs.
