Started walking it back during debate. I like Cain, but he needs some senior staffers to prep him and help him get his message under control. His candor is his greatest strength and weakness. He has to realize he's not having a conversation among friends where you can misspeak and take it back when it's on CNN.
and what, Romney is the alternative? Not really. Someone can provide Cain with a historical perspective on terrorism and negotiations with irrational actors. This is one blip on an otherwise clear screen. He spoke from the heart, in plain language. I understand what bibi was thinking. For all we know, he had high power RFID chips inplanted in those c-suckers whom he released. that or some kind of slow-acting poison. Either way, I'm not fooled for 5 seconds into thinking that Mossad and the K'nesset haven't worked this one through six ways from Sabbath.
This is yet one more example of why I don't trust anyone who has never held office, or (at least) had little experience therein.
If Cain had served in office elsewhere, we would now have a better idea how he performs, as we do with (say) Romney & Perry. Alternatively, previous experience may have altered his response to that question.
The White House is no place for "on the job" training.
Plus, I really like the way Israelis care about their soldiers.
Dana Perino on today's morning show said to hold off a bit and see what the Israelis do. She thinks there is a bit more stuff behind the scenes on this one due to timing and history. BTW, I got to meet her. Big fan. :)
I will cut him slack on this one. I think he genuinely misspoke, based on his reaction to the clip. The thing I like about Cain is what you see is what you get. He doesn't mince words. I don't see his lack of political experience as a negative. He has a huge breadth of experience, and is very methodical in his decision making. I'm sure he will assemble a good team of advisors, but I think he needs to start right away to help him get through the wickets of campaigning.
Romney is out.. his comment "I told them we cant have any illegals working for me, I .. for Pete's sake I'm running for office..." tells you ALL you need to know..
Flip Flopping big government liar republican....
I am going with Paul.
That's it, I'm voting for Reagan. Oh wait, he granted amnesty to illegal immigrants. I guess I should keep looking for the perfect candidate.
I don't have a problem with this. It's easy to kill terrorists when they're not in US custody...
I will cheerfully admit out here on the Front Porch to a certain willingness to "shoot from the lip," and then engaging my brain. For starters, as Ace has pointed out over on his blog, http://ace.mu.nu/ that all of these debates are being run and staffed by Legacy media networks that are so openly in the tank for Dear Leader as to make them utterly without any care or concern to appear open-minded. It is said that they will atop at little to make strong GOP candidates appear weak, evil or stupid, or a combination of the above in order to push the candidate(s) who will least appeal to swing voters or will so dishearten social conservatives so as to either swing back to Dear Leader or dissuade them from voting. And, to their discredit, the GOP has a habit of doing the old "well he's raised a lot of money for local candidates, and has been around a while, and this isn't his first rodeo, so we ought to give it to him" thing. (Bob Dole, John McCain immediately come to mind)
I agree, however in that Cain needs to find someone who can get through to him that he can indeed win, and that he needs to simultaneously keep the social conservatives willing to listen, the fiscal/defence conservatives onboard and get the swing 30% of likely voters to not write him off. he has the ability to communicate plainly and openly, without artifice. What he needs are advisors, not handlers, who can help him get past the media filter and make people take a better look. But he needs to do it fast, or we'll be faced with Dear Leader or the man who's own health care team advised Dear Leader to run us fast aground on insolvency.
None of the candidates are perfect, but any is vastly superior to Obama.
Romney is too floppy and moderate for my taste.
Perry seems to be a real conservative on most issues but is not a slick used car salesman who will impress the multitude of idiots who are allowed to vote.
Cain is a good man and has business experience and common sense and is not a panderer. He knows how to pick good advisors and delegate, and is not afraid to stand up to the press, or correct his (rookie) mistakes. If I cannot have Perry, I would like Cain.
Newt is smartest guy in the bunch, but too intellectual, and prone to go off the reservation (Pelosi couch scene....) at times. Save a cabinet job for him, but I'd be happy with him as Prez.
Ron Paul makes perfect sense 60% of the time and is totally nuts the rest of the time.
Santorum and Bachman have good instincts, but they will not be the nominee.
Some other guy who was not there was not missed and should drop out now instead of wasting our time to stroke his own ego.
Again, any would be better than Obama.
I agree she's a smart cookie......and hot.
Paul or not, just vote in the general!
She's married, I checked. ;)
Cain was accused, and allegedly had a cash payout for it when he was president of the restaurant association.

This may be the straw on his campaign camel. Mr. Cain, don't circumlocute, don't cover it up, own it, be done with it and move on. Either way, don't drag it out. It will suck the life out of your campaign and take the focus off of the issues.
