3. THE KEEL LAYING CEREMONY, THE FIRST MAJOR MILESTONE IN A SHIPS CONSTRUCTION, FOR THE CUTTER BERNARD C. WEBBER WILL BE ON 09 APRIL 2010 IN LOCKPORT, LA. WE ARE HONORED THAT HIS DAUGHTER, PATRICIA, WILL BE THE SHIPS SPONSOR AND HIS GRANDDAUGHTERS, LEAH AND HILARY, WILL BE THE MAIDS OF HONOR. THEIR PRESENCE WILL FORM A LIVING LINK BETWEEN PETTY OFFICER WEBBER AND THE CUTTER.BZ to USCG - beats the heck out of this.
4. ALL OF THE SENTINEL CLASS CUTTERS WILL BE NAMED AFTER ENLISTED HEROES TO HONOR OUR PAST GUARDIANS WHO STOOD THE WATCH. BY CHOOSING THIS NAMING STRATEGY, WE CAN HIGHLIGHT OUR MARITIME HERITAGE BY TELLING THE STORIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO CREATED OUR VIBRANT HISTORY.

100% agree
Navy take notice, please...
Mount a 57mm on it, and that's what LCS was supposed to be.
That is a sexy looking ship...
The smallest services seem to have the clearest sense of mission and purpose. Hmmmm....

I knew Bernie Webber well. Grew up with him as my neighbor in the 50's/60's. A great, humble man. So proud to know this is happening. Well deserved. USN should take a lesson.
The Zumwalt? You must be kidding? What's next, The USS Robert McNamara?
About time the CG leadership cadre gave recognition to the Guardians on deck [the Enlisted ]. This is much more than sailor of the quarter or year awards.
This is a good trend, assuming one approves of the existence of the Coast Guard. They started as tax collecters, and are still mostly cops. Owhell, they are also the heirs of the lifesaving service and the lighthouse keepers.
