Operationalizing Sequestration

What is this sequestration thingy all about?  Here are a few things to feed your nogg'n with so you can answer "yes" when asked, "Did you know about this?"

Just a little commentary from 'ole Sal; in some ways this rubs me wrong. I think we are very close to conducting PSYOPS against the American people on this. We need to be very careful not to be seen as out front or advocating about what is, ultimately, a very political thing.

Just the facts. Speak only when spoken to - let the civilians fight this fight.

This is 1/2 the story. There is a bullshit classified (not really classified, just LIMDIS so they put it on the SIPRNET and illegally classified it) set of briefs from USFF / PACFLT that lay out the bleak reality in terms of our forces ability to do their job post sequester.

Those of us close to the problem and running the budget drills for our leadership, know that the picture is much more bleak than is being portrayed to the public.

It will all be on the backs of our sailors as usual.

Yet we're still going to spend millions on Exercise Northern Edge 2013. Either we're broke or we're not. I think it's possible DoD is actually incapable of understanding financial limitations. We're losing maintenance availabilities but continuing exercises. Huh?

Glad to know we are keeping our vital programs active:

I'd like to know how much of the DoD's budget is for the Diversity agenda? Oh no we can't cut that! But we'll cut mission readiness and operational budgets.

These materials were developed to provide guidance to commanders and Budget Submitting Offices, not for public communication. They were passed on to the public by various recipients, not Navy headquarters. Therefore, it doesn't make follow that it was intended as PSYOPS.
