CSN: in ur ports; mess'n ur bit'ness

Sadly, my ancestors were all Confederate Army ... nary a Sailor among them until my grandfathers decided to serve on the other side during The Great War. We let by-gone be by-gones ... it just took about a half-century.

I would like to think that somewhere a Confederate Navy man is chuckl'n a bit.
Confederate troops scuttled the ironclad CSS Georgia to prevent its capture by Gen. William T. Sherman when his Union troops took Savannah in December 1864. It's been on the river bottom ever since. Now, the Civil War shipwreck sits in the way of a government agency's $653 million plan to deepen the waterway that links the nation's fourth-busiest container port to the Atlantic Ocean. The ship's remains are considered so historically significant that dredging the river is prohibited within 50 feet of the wreckage.

How many divisions does the Pope Have?

I love this. Just want to get naked and roll in it. Only in America (and I mean that is a good way).
After President Bush and His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI addressed the crowd, the U.S. Army Chorus performed “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
This video is of his speech, I highly recommend it. It ends right before the U.S. Army Chorus leans into it - but it went like this (I can't find the U.S. Army Chorus anywhere singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic - but these guys will get the idea across). This guy, nosomuch.

Got to love that song, even if it is a Yankee song. Just to be fair and balanced - and in honor of the flag behind the Pope and Prez ....

Oh, and the answer to the question is at least 14. About 10 Active Duty Army, and 4 Marine.

Unnatural acts: the Obama edition

UPDATE:I think I have a name for what Sen. Obama and Senator Clinton are doing; Cultural Carpetbagging.
Ungh. His genetic father was from Kenya. His step-father was Indonesian. His mother was a Caucasian woman from Kansas. He was raised in Hawaii and Indonesia. He went to private and Ivy League schools. He spend the balance of his life in the Upper Mid-West around Chicago. He fakes a Southern inflection, you never hear any other time, in a Black Church in Alabama.

This isn't just patronizing - it is insulting. Like I said earlier today and amplified now and then in this blog - not only am I a Southerner, I come from an old-line Plantation Family - one of the largest slave holding families in the U.S.

The work that still needs to be done in this nation to bring everyone back to a level playing field is an issue very close to me. Of great concern to me. To have Sen. Obama try to walk into this very American issue like he has, is and insult to all of us who descend from slaves and slave owners.

This is our issue. Help us if you want - but don't try to be something you are not. This insult is personal to me. It should give pause to everyone else.

An unnatural act

UPDATE: I think I have a name for what Sen. Obama and Senator Clinton are doing; Cultural Carpetbagging.
As a Southerner, I have lost my appetite. I am truly sick. My ears bleed. My wife now has a migraine. My Bluetick Coonhounds are running under the front porch.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) in the Border State with the unfortunate abbreviation, Kentucky, has produced one of the most painful and patronizing acts of the year. You have to listen to to it.

...and do me a favor. Don't Digg this post, go and
Digg it here.
