NATO channels Lord Vader

This is CNN ... but ... we all know what is going on. Watch is all - and let President Obama's comments from 28 MAR soak in.

In other words ...

Well, I'd be glad to watch Quaddaffi flee with few tons of gold to say, Zimbabwe or Cuba... or other "workers paradise".  But I will not shed a tear when laser-guided karma meets Colonelissimus. Or the Ceausescu solution. Lockerbie aside, he has the blood of thousands in own country on his hands.
And autocracies tend to handle loss of the big boss rather bad. Few tyrants have perfected the planning for own demise like Kim dynasty seems to do.

  2. I can't speak for the good CDR, but I take away that the reluctance isn't so much the mission or objectives, but rather the way in which the administration got us into the action.

Allegorically: if my neighbor neighbor needs a cup of sugar, I'd hook him or her up with it without much of a second thought.  On the other hand, if my neighbor sneaks into my house under cover of darkness and steals a cup of sugar, I'm gonna be pretty P.O.'d.

I am sure Obama could at least try to convince senators to authorize use of force... Heck, he could even count on his former rival McCain support.

Sal, your geek cred is taking a serious hit.

    It's Lord VADER. Not Vadar.

So, Mike, you approve of the UN attacking a sovereign nation which has not attacked any of its neighbors, committing countless unprovoked acts of war against their armed forces, and specifcally targeting the head of state?

Have you thought about the precedents this sets, and how they affect international affairs in the future? If nothing else, this kind of activity is far beyond NATO's mission; but don't mind me, I think NATO should be disbanded. The Soviet Union is gone, and there's nothing to defend against.

Basically President Obama is throwing several centuries of international law and precedents out the window, and otherwise politically-sane people are cheering him on because Kaddafy is a slimeball.

yes, if the said head of state and his bunch of mercs/state sec thugs - because most of regular forces either melted away or rebelled - started a campaign to kill off own population...
international law and sovereignity concept was written to suit 17th century absolute sovereigns... hence name!
