Naval Beach Group (NBG) 2 Sailors completed several construction jobs in Port-au-Prince and participated in community relations projects while deployed in support of Operation Unified Response.BALTOPS. Summer. Latvia.
The battalion, in conjunction with Sailors from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 7 and Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 202, constructed a portion of a life support activity (LSA) facility which will serve as the new bed-down location for Joint Task Force Haiti.
...
After leaving Haiti, NBG 2 and Marine Corps elements will participate in the Maritime Pre-positioning Force portion of the U.S. Navy Europe's annual BALTOPS exercise in Latvia from May to June.
BTW - you do know that Latvia has some, if not THE best looking women in the world; and 85% want to be Americans?
Pool starts now. By Christmas 2010 - how many NBG-2/NMCB-7/CBMU-222 Sailors will have Latvian wives?
I'm going to go strong: bidding starts at 10.
Hah! I know what Beach Group sailors are like, because I either hauled them around or was one for almost 8 years. You misunderestimate them.
ReplyDelete15.
Still low; I say even higher.

Looks like the Latvians haven't received the memo on Diversity:
ReplyDelete"Additionally, individuals displaying alternative lifestyles have experienced harassment."

Guess you can't have it all.
Maybe I'll volunteer for that marching band with the cool helments, so I can closely inspect those ladies' other assets.
mmmmmm, Latvia. I visited that area of the world in 2006. Good times, good times.
ReplyDeletePsst.... guys.... you know they're not ALL REAL blondes, don't you?
ReplyDeleteA Latvian Code Pink rally differs summat from ours.
ReplyDeleteUm, you think the blonde is what is doing it for us? As someone who embraces diversity more than the Navy leadership EVER could, I can tell you that the blonde hair is NOT what caught my eye. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey really are cuties. And every single member of the CRD Salamander community who served in the Armed Forces during the Cold War can take a bit of the credit for that festive scene. I have a feeling that the locals weren't quite so happy when the Soviets were in charge.
ReplyDeleteIf they get a week of inport time, 12. I've got a 6 pack of Latvian beer on it.
ReplyDelete...and this will be a fine way to say "beware the dogs" to the bear next door.
ReplyDeleteYour icon seems to indicate You have blonde hair, old girl. Not real sporting to poke jests at the other blondes, what, what?
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha. Funny thing is, overnight... it sometimes changes to red. Amazing how that happens.... ;)
ReplyDeleteLatvian Blondes Association?
ReplyDelete
Hmmmm. Their ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to their newsletter.
They're not? I'll have to think of a way to identify the natural ones, then... O:-)
ReplyDeleteCheck the eyebrows, Dude, blondes have blonde eyebrows, duh!
ReplyDeleteCurtains have to match the Carpet...
ReplyDeleteGood lord, in a generation, their children will make Gulf Port seem better than Texas for hawt blonde women!
ReplyDeleteYou can always count on MTH to cut through, capture, and clarify the essence of any given situation.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is a way for our county to ensure its continued prosperity. You know, with the vast majority of Americans being overweight and all... Maybe we should forward deploy CAG 5 to Latvia vice Japan.
ReplyDeleteIt iss my nature... sorry
ReplyDeleteSorry to disturb blonde fantasy, SNA, but supercarriers dont quite fit into Baltic...
ReplyDeleteSometimes there is no carpet there shipmate. :)
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize MTH, I have always preferred the bold and direct approach myself ;)
ReplyDeleteGentlemen, (she says rolling her eyes) you may want to avoid the potential Glenn Close/rabbit in the pot outcome for satisfying idle curiosity. Two words: arm hair (for women who have any noticeable amounts). If she was born blonde, it's still fair. If it's reddish and she's freckled... there's red hair genes there. If she's a real brunette... well, arm hair is more noticeable... and darker.
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha. Funny thing is, overnight... it sometimes changes to red. Amazing how that happens....
ReplyDeleteDB, you now have my full, undivided attention...whether or not that's a good thing is left as an exercise...
Meh. I mean, yes, they are beautiful (if a bit too Paris-Hiltonish for me), but so are women from the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia; even Russia. Met some stunning college students from Russia a few years back; one lovely young lady from Siberia comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that the local gene pool was strugging so hard against a half-century of oppression that -when better conditions appeared- two generations of beauty just exploded. June was, indeed, busting out all over.
Consider that a woman born in 1989 (fall of the Wall) would be 21 today. A huge number of young east European women are stunning. QED. :)
I was in Riga last year. The old days of US Sailors jumping off the brow into the waiting arms of the local girls are over, at least in that part of the world. The past few years of the Brits using Latvia as their personal bachelor party playground, including some incidents of peeing on their monuments have left the locals a bit wary of English speakers. Also the Lat is 2-1 versus the dollar, so our boys wont be throwing money around all that much... Those Latvian girls are a tough sell.
