Nawww.  Way too many cannon.  After all, what was CNO's assertion?

"The net effect is fewer weapons are needed in today’s conflicts."

So, land all of the 24 and 32 pounders, and replace them with one of these.   More room for information dominance equipment.

I think LCS might need such emergency propulsion when fuel runs out...

I can't see why we can't get behind this cutting-edge, innovative change agent that will allow us to leverage a totally renewable energy source, advancing a socially-responsible and progessive evolutionary paradigm for future, negative collateral damage, risk-free kenetic operational modals for foreign policy.

On the other hand, look on the bright side: It will take about 20-25 years for any of this to be sent to sea, under the current aquisition management system! :-D

Ramirez is sheer genius with his pennings!
I can think of no better place to display the original than in the Five Sided Wind Tunnel.

Ah, I do love Old Time Radio.  Especially The Great Guildersleeve, a spin off from Fibber McGee and Molly.

Fewer weapond needed, until, suddenly, we need lots of them, but then it will be too late.

This cartoon should be printed out and placed on the wall above everry urinal in the General Officers restrooms at the Puzzle palace. I'm sure the culprit(s) would be caught (but maybe not) but it would be worth it to see clean up crews taking care of the many exploded heads 8-)

As I've done on other Internet forums recently, I herewith present my concept for a DDGS-1000 Sloop of War.

As you can see in the attached conceptual illustration, all of DDG-1000's potential issues for experiencing serious seakeeping problems with its tumblehome hullform could be dealt with in "one swell sloop" as it were.

The only real drawback I can see to this concept is that with a 250-foot draft, including the extended-depth hydrodynamic fin keel, traversing the continental shelf to reach home port might become somewhat problematic.

My favorite part about the energy farce is that there are O-5's and above who have seen the real hard data brought to them by the scientists, engineers and analysts within NAVSEA, Dahlgren and other places that it will cost us ships to meet this requirement; additionally, we will pay more than ever before for the fuel, and the technology is nowhere near mature enough to even begin forecasting trends and break even points.  But does that stop anyone?  Surely not.  O-5's in the pentagon just do what they are told.  They do not think for themselves.  I am summarily unimpressed.  Neigh, it takes civilians, contractors and O-6's and above to think for themselves.  Don't get me wrong, a lot of Captains are happy to carry the water and not think twice.  It has just been my jaded experience that there is nothing more dangerous than an O-4/O-5 awaiting a selection board, armed with dualies and briefs to argue why bad ideas aren't.
