Diversity Thursday

From A to OOO - your TAD dollars at work.

Just so you know the complete intellectual disconnect the Diversity Bullies have and the fact that they really don't believe what they say - check out the bold; really? All? ..... and snicker with me what comes after JJJ ....

... and yes, I am quoting the whole message, just to share the pain. You are also required to play, "find the white male" game with me. Nothing starts the AM better than a good dose of self-hating, patronizing, eunuchesque asshattery.

    Interesting post and message.

    Oddly enough, the only people I had working for me interested enough in this sort of thing was Syneeda Penland.  The rest little cared about outstanding distinction based on the color of their skin.

    I'm sure the XO's of LCS 1 and 3 (or was that 2, for some reason I find it hard to keep that straight) will get right on this. Being "hybrid sailors" they can whip this right out.  They have so much available time, manned the way they are.

    It would give them something to rant about to take the spotlight off of their ethically iffy financial concerns in the news.

    It's a good thing that we are so awesome at everything else, or I would have to question our priorities.  Honestly though, this all makes sense to me. The navy is always 30 years behind the power curve.  Take, for example, NMCI.  Or AEGIS.  Or LEAN/Six Sigma?  Total Quality Management?  Polyester uniforms?

    I don't know about you, but I think that it is time for senior navy leadership to lay down and fossilize.

    So let's see ... 67 events ... let's say 750 commands ... 20% of commands send a rep to each event ==> 10,050 event attendees

    $150 for a hotel ... $500 for a round trip plane ticket ... $100 meals and incidentals ... $500 registration fee ==> $1,250 to attend

    10,050 events * $1,250 per event = $12.6 million dollars.

    Exactly HOW are we gonna pay for this?  Do we expect it to accrue more than $12.6 million in benefit?  Change the assumptions on attendance level and the question remains the same.  Poke at the assumptions on individual event cost and they'll probably increase.

    Oh, and that Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing?  Sold out, sorry.

    Dear Diarrhea of the Keyboard:  you missed the point, as often you do.  Apparently jobs like engineering and flying and computer skills are broken down by the colors of the rainbow in your world.  You see nothing divisive or patronizing or exclusionary in this?

    My friend was at the bar last year watching the LSU game and when the pitcher threw his third strike-out, a black lady at the bar got incensed that they were letting the KKK hang their signs like that.  Some people see what they want and are just aching to be offended.

  20. I always thought it should be July... the month named after Julius Caesar (the betrayed emperor who brought order); and the one that brings us the MLB All Star Game, Independence Day, Bastille Day, Battle of the Boyne ... and Harry Potter's birthday.

    DB, I can actually see a point to Mr. Stoolz' post. You see a goodly portion of those events are simply hosted by major science and engineering associations and societies, for instance ASME's international convention and congress. Unfortunately, none of the events listed that I could see were youth-centric or youth friendly. Most of those organizations require Bachelors of Science degrees which means the kiddies are left out.

    If they really wanted to reach out to today's youth, they'd mount a better ad campaign (this is good up until the tagline) and focus on ASME/SAE/etc.-sponsored youth engineering events, camps, and competitions. That's the way I'd do it; just my $0.02.

    Like LT B, I too wondered about the glaring discrimination exhibited against the left handed Lithuanian lesbians!

    Unless, Lori [redacted] is a representative of said discriminated agasint minority.  After all, everyone in that office is bound to be a "twofer".

    In fact, with so many people named "[redacted]" this certainly sounds like a very inbred bunch.  Perhaps that explains the low IQs which precludes their seeing that all their work is a total waste of time and resources adding nothing to readiness to fight and win wars at sea.

    That does not explain the stupidity or cowardice that their superiors exhibit in perpetuating this entire office and their waste of resources.  Theya re as useless as retaining a BUSHIPS Office of Sail Development, or the NAVAIR helium reserves for blimps.  When the need has passed, or the mission is accomplished, so shut stuff down when it is no longer a priority.

    I see a lot of racial niche organizations, especially hispanic ones. If these keep blossoming up, not only the USN but the entire country is going to be torn up.

    When I was a student, we had a couple of blacks and some Moroccans in our classes, and even a Vietnamese. We thought absolutely nothing - NOTHING - of it, they were just 'some of the guys'. Just like that. We noticed the difference in skin colour like we noticed that someone had blond hair or wore glasses.

    It's actually these diversity bullies that are pushing a huge race flag in your face who are creating suspicion among people of different colours.
