Senator Sestak?

Yes, we have been following him since he was VADM soon to be RADM (Ret.) - just click the Sestak tag below. From being fired, being elected, being C.A.I.R.'s boy, to today - we've been there.
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter has been defeated in a Pennsylvania primary in his bid for a sixth term after taking the risky step of switching to the Democratic Party.
Voters Tuesday picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party's nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.

The vote also was a defeat for President Barack Obama, who supported Specter when he abandoned the Republican Party last year.

The moderate Specter cast his switch as a decision of principle after inflaming the GOP by voting for Obama's economic stimulus bill. But many Democratic voters questioned his motives.
Say what you want about the man - he is willing to take a risk, work hard, play to win, and go for the high score. If success is defined by how you bounce off the bottom - Rep. Sestak (D-PA) is an unqualified success. I will give him that.
It is too early to call him Senator Sestak (D-PA) as NOV is still waiting for him and Toomey is not a lightweight .... but would I bet Byron's union dues for the year against Sestak? No way. Even odds.

Like I said when he was elected to the House; Congress can hold quite a few quirky and destructive personality types. That is fine - and that is up to the voters of Pennsylvania to decide if they want him.

Oh, one last note; Congressman Sestak - thank you for removing Specter.
Squash players around the world will have a beer in your name tonight.

Sestak works 20 hour days, 6 1/2 days a week... say what you will, but you get back what you put in.

I think this speaks very well for the Navy and the character formation it provides.

    Lights out, Senator Sphincter.
    No warship named for you!

  5. NoVAite,
I'd argue that the character formation being provided by the Navy politicians/admirals has not impressed me considering the present state of the Navy and the lack of honesty throughout.  Furtermore, Sestak, being of that ilk, said that a law was broken and then clammed up to protect his political position when he reported that he was offered a position in the administration.  Last I recall, the Navy's Core Values were HONOR, COURAGE and COMMITMENT and his oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America has not run out and the manipulation of the Legislative Branch of government by the Executive Branch without disclosure by the Congressman as to whom tried to bribe him makes him guilty as well.  Count me unimpressed with his "character."

For the record: I've never ever been in a union. Wouldn't. Unions suck large. If you want a primary causitive factor into Navy shipbuilding problems look to see if the yard is union first. That's your first sign.

Sestak's a character alright. But a snake is still a snake, and he's already got two strikes against him.

Dude .... if Sestak represents the character the Navy builds - then we are in big trouble.  You need to talk to people who have worked for him.

There is nothing the USN should be proud about WRT Sestak.  Ask Admiral Mullen.

Working harder dont make you a great leader.... Long hours dont make you a good leader.. Sestak is no leader.

I don't believe Pennsylvania's election laws allow that kind of stunt this late in the game.

New Jersey's didn't either when the democrat candidate's history came to light at the last minute but they still brought back Frank-wasn't his brother a VADM?  Frank is still there because the Jersey Supreme Court decided that the electoral laws don't apply to democrats named Lautenberg.

I think you never served on the OPNAV staff, no offense!

But Salty, the chances of that are only about 20%.

This election was clearly the evil of two lessers.

I missed him by 3 months on the OPNAV staff but talked to many of my cohorts that endured the nightmare.  How about getting a boat load of action items from a 8pm mtg that ended at 10pm that were due at the follow-up meeting at 7am the next morning.  This was a not an uncommon occurence.  And we were one staff removed from him.  The folks that worked directly for him...can't even fathom it.

As far as bailing on the Repubs, Crist did the right thing.  The FLA legislature is a bunch of religious loons.

"religious loons"...you mean like the CDR? or a fair amount of the regulars? Do you live in the Sunshine State? Here's the straight skinny in case the beams were hitting your skull too hard (I'm assuming that's what caused the hair loss, sorry): Crist was getting his ass beat head to head with Rubio.

    BTW: here's your sign.

    Byron,

It seems "religious loons" are anyone who mentions "God" without "dammit" attached to it.  Unless of course, you jump on a desk and yell "Allahu Akbar" before shooting your comrades.  Then, you are merely "troubled".

The RADM did a public service getting rid of a Potomac-baked Senator. Still hope he loses. Though never met him. knew many like him, and their character flaws tend to catch up eventually. Mullen was first, there's another whack across the head coming.

  23. Firing Sestak may be the ONLY positive thing that Mullen did as CNO OR CJCS.  I am disgusted with our latest few choices of CNO.  I am waiting for Mullen to run for office in CA too.  I doubt he can ruin that state more than it already has been, but he can take heart, he's effed up the Navy good and hard.
