I think I am going to have some pics to ponder today.
As you may see on the right, I am listening to 1968: The Year That Rocked the World. How is the communist youth movement doing?
Protesters take part in a rally organized by the PAME Communist-affiliated union as a Greek flag is seen on a department store advertising banner in Athens, Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. Strikes and demonstrations over austerity measures hit the Greek capital of Athens on Tuesday, as international debt inspectors returned to resume their scrutiny of the country's reforms. (AP Photo/Thanassis Stavrakis)Yep - what is that? Three baby boomers and one older-cohort Gen-X type?
Snort. Ha, ha Greek commie b@st@rds; we still won the Cold War you bloodless, mass murdering useful idiots.
Scary part is, this could happen here. Economic troubles in Europe are going to have national security ramifications in the coming years... it is gonna be bad...
ReplyDeleteOh, make no mistake; it will happen here. The gravey train will have to stop. If it stops soon, some pain. Stops later - a lot more pain....and the streets will be filled with the spoiled masses who want their comfort from the sweat of those who are working.
ReplyDeleteThe guvmunt serfs vs. the taxpayer. Oh, its coming.
Wouldn't be a problem if that generation lived up to at least one of their promises and died before they got old.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with that paint brush, Spade, some of us are from that generation, and most of us have worked hard since we cut our hair and quit smoking dope.
ReplyDeleteSo what makes us think that the gravy train will end? And what makes us think the disastrous consequences of Skippy-nomics are not intentional?
ReplyDeleteWho has this President been surrounded by in his formative years, his political career, and his administration? Many of whom he has now foisted upon the electorate with the avowed goal of subverting our Constitution for the sake of "economic justice."
What are the economic/political philosophies of these people? (Hint: They are all strikingly similar)
Frank Marshall Davis
Valerie Jarrett
Anita Dunn
Van Jones
Eric Holder
Sonia Sotomayor
Elena Kagan
Rahm Emanuel
Bill Ayers
Bernadine Dohrn
Saul Alinsky
Donald Berwick
Hillary Clinton
Ann Dunham (Mother)
Barack Obama Sr. (Father)
David Axelrod
Some of us have always cut our hair and never smoked dope. Not to mention the fact that we have always worked hard, very hard.
ReplyDeleteIt will end for the same reason they always end. Either you get leadership that makes the hard choices and by luck has a populace that supports them just long enough to fix things. That, or eventually you run out of other people's money and the streets run with blood.
ReplyDeleteYou can prepare for either case ... because that is COA A and COA B. One thing I do know - what is going on right now is not sustainable.
Betweenf the government cuts benefits by 25, 50, or 75% (which it will have to do, the degree depends on when the decision is made to grow up; the longer to decide - the greater the cut); I will survive. If social disorder takes place - I will give better than I'll get - and I have a bolt-hole in the swamps a half tank of gas away if my city falls to chaos (which even in the worst case scenario is only a 1% chance as my part of the country firmly believes that "an armed society is a polite society - our culture fully supports shooting looters etc).
What will happen in the USA? Well, if Obama is a one termer - we will experience something between the UK-FRA-ITA experience in ~5 years. If Obama is re-elected and the Republicans do not take the Senate; then we will be where Spain and Greece are now in 5-10, but a bit worse.
Lucky ... my bolt hole is a much longer drive away than that... more like 3 full tanks of gas.
ReplyDeleteBUT ... there's plenty of interesting things in storage to while away the time.
I have no idea why you're concerned about those influences, URR. Surely Mr. Obama didn't/doesn't listen to them anymore than he listened to Rev. Wright during the years he sat in Wright's church.
ReplyDeleteOn top of that, you are a racist for daring to besmirch the name of a Wise Latina Woman. Report immediately to the nearest re-education camp. Don't forget your shovel.
Phib, I think we are gonna go faster than 5 years. I am thinking back to the SHTF of the Hurricanes of 04 and 05 and seeing how quickly things went to hell. With Just in time supply and stocking of everything in our society, coupled with an entitlement society, we are a delicate and fragile society. We no longer place any value on rugged indiviudalism and our youth are totally clueless of history, government, constitution and such. The younger generation and even our generation, dont have any idea how to catch a fish, grow a vegetable, skin or dress a deer, or live a week without A/C.
ReplyDeletethere is a human condition to ignore the signs and pretend it doesnt exist until often and usually the ability to change it has passed.. and we are past that point.. to deny that is folly.
"You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality."—Ayn Rand
ReplyDeleteMy point is that this is not going to end, because those I listed above see the entire situation as the BEGINNING. The beginning of a statist-communist government that doles out personal liberties like ration cards, to their political and social allies. For the rest, they become "violent extremists" and subject to treatment as enemies of the state.
ReplyDeleteShutting off the $$ or blood in the streets? I posit door #3. The insidious suppression, and eventual outlawing, of contrary points of view. Gun and ammunition confiscation. Seizing of property and assets without a hint of due process, on very thin premises, and then on no premises at all, once the supremacy of the central government is established beyond question.
The sham of "democracy" will be the government-dependent drones voting for those who promise them the most money. Most of our money. Which we will have little control over, since we may be incarcerated as violent counterrevolutionaries.\
The end? Nope. The beginning.
Actucally i know how to do everyone of those things and work with people who can do most of those things.
ReplyDeleteI stock and will deliver, if requested, 12 ga slugs, .30-06, .40, and 9mm Pb injections. I prefer to live in states where the castle doctrine is on the books and followed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful display of dying ideology (dying of old age, literally)
ReplyDeleteTHE problem is young generation facing lifetime of high unemployment and overtaxation to keep octogenarians fed and healthy.
Standard invention-driven rate of jobs disappearance was compounded throughout advanced economies via massive outsourcing of jobs to the third world, with China the flagship of the pack.
For the first time in many years we have a generation that will probably en masse have lower living standards than their parents.
Few lucky individuals with highly sought creative skills will benefit more and more, but not everybody can be a top class IT engineer - and even those white collar job will feel pressure of increasingly educated, growing middle class in China, India and dozens of other places, my humble spot of Central Europe included.
Laws of economy are cruel - capital flows in the direction of cheap labor and vice versa. While stopping immigration is hard and costly, it pales in comparison with futility of trying to stop capital flowing in era when within minutes you can get your assets from Wall Street to anywhere in the web-connected world, and then yet elsewhere.
The same laws of economy dictate that pension system devised when average life expectation was close to or even lower than retirement age will simply not work when wonders of modern medicine have pushed it upwards decade or more. Add to this the medicine costs skyrocketing as the law of diminishing returns sets in, and those who would otherwise die earlier of smallpox or pneumonia live to suffer cancer.
And politics, amongst all that need of systematic changes are clinging to their mostly retired electorate, as older people are much highly likely to vote than young ones.
So far no unified ideology beyond the demand for state to "do something" emerged in the protest movements on the street. The lack of young people in the picture clearly shows we are not for a return of old time Marxism-Leninism. But eventually there is chance some charismatic leaders will harvest the grapes of wrath - and then it is likely that whatever their ideological status, they will become a danger to democracy. Perhaps even not by a force of riots, but by a ballot, as was in Germany 1932, should the would-be Great Leader convince the occupiers of XYZ to vote for him.
Disagree. Dying ideology? This administration has filled its ranks, and two positions on the Supreme Court with those who espouse an ideology to the left of these men.
ReplyDeleteThat ideology is being taught in our secondary and higher education institutions like a religious catechism.
The ideology is alive and well. And doing its predictable damage to the accrued wealth of those who are successful.
there is chance some charismatic leaders will harvest the grapes of wrath - and then it is likely that whatever their ideological status, they will become a danger to democracy.
ReplyDeleteComing soon, to a theater or TV near you (well, maybe not you, ewok40k)...
