Post-modern International Order

If you just came out of a Cold War coma - you would think you were in a parallel universe.
Parallel universe? I saw a movie on this once - in it the President of the US began seizing power from Congress in an attempt to create an all-powerful executive. This fictional character stated "since Congress cannot fix things, I will!" while unilaterally interpreting, changing and negating the laws passed by the legislative branch.
The writer of such a movie should be fired, one can only take suspension of disbelief so far you know!
I can never quite get used to it. Deploying to AFB a lot of personnel transit Manas AB, Kyrgyzstan. Stepping off the aircraft and seeing the cyrillic signs and Soviet era architecture brings back the halcyon days when knew who the bad guys were and where they at.
Sigh. Only thing we learn from history is we fail to learn anything from history.

At least Clinton with help of Gingrich managed to pull the deficit to zero, with Gingrich doing the slashing cuts and Clinton doing the taxing...
