At least he isn't having to make the inspection in a launch.  That is the norm in much of the Nashville area.

Dang!  Now he has to change because his pretty uniform might be dirty!  We need some kind of uniform that can get dirty...wonder how much one of those would cost?

I hear a lot of base housing there was flooded.  They're saying it's a 500 or 1,000-year flood.  Poor Tennessee...

Wonder how many Sailors are happy their detailers went for a swim. Typical OS discussion with detailer in mid 90's. "I want anything in Mayport". "I have the George Washington, the Caron, The Whidbey Island". Sailor response..........dead silence and a trip to the help wanted ads in the local community.

I'm hoping Veterans' records weren't lost in the flooding.

If you're E-8 or over, your promotion board won't be meeting for a while....

Gosh, you mean little bitty Mayport? The most under-recognized base? The one SECDEF and CNO are slowly starving to death? The one where you can let go the tug and be at all ahead in less than 5 minutes?

So, the response must be excellent, 'cause I haven't heard any Katrina-type complaints as of yet.

All Regional commands get ready to pony up your share of the replacement Budget!  Got to have good carpets in the Ivory Tower West!

He has a Streamlight LED Survivor flashlight, just like the one I keep in my truck!  Good flashlight!

remarkable that they don't have a backup server for npc.navy.mil

We are all thinking about the backup but how about all the desktop computers.  You know, the ones well place on the floor that we use to connect to the server.  How many of those were destroyed.  It's a good day for Dell!

Had a 200 year flood in Warwick, RI where I live a few weeks ago. First time ever with water in my house. Lost a lot of stuff. Know the pain.

Keeping the DESKtops on the DESK TOP is not just for dirt and dust, though in many places hanging from the ceiling won't make much difference.

Really.  Do you wonder why so many certs show up as invalid too (in browsers like Firefox that check), or just surprised that there's no backup server?

Yes the best Sea and Anchor in the Navy. Bow out Charlie Pier and your past the Sea Buoy in 5-7 minutes. Plus friendly natives who aren't out and out nasty like folks in Norfolk towards the Navy. Never once felt welcomed in Norfolk and never once didn't feel welcomed in Mayport.

That really is an epic picture seeing the CNO walk around, seemingly by himself, with a flashlight.
For some reason it really resonates with me.

Maybe he thinks that he's Diogenes.  If so, he's in the wrong place.

Veterans' records are kept in St. Louis.  No worries about that.
