When the kids profiled below join up, do we just call them American or Navy Blue - or are we going to go by the Klan-like "one drop rule" like the Navy is now? ..... and a drop of what blood? By treating different ethnic groups differently now, like we do, do we encourage racial self-identification fraud?
Wait ... we already have that answer. Of course we do. On top of that, the Navy uses either a Klan-like "one drop rule" and/or encourages self-identification fraud.
How do I know? Simple, I saw it, I did it, and I see it - and every week I get emails with more examples from those still on active duty.
Why? Leadership demands it. Until it is illegal - that is what we do. Kind of makes you feel slimy, yes? In a way, forcing a bitter, retrograde attitude on these young kids - like those in this book - is mental child abuse, isn't it?

Ponder.
What I see below are great American kids with unlimited potential and the free will and ability to do what ever they want - just like my kids.
What does the Navy see? Race and ethnicity. That is sad as it is inaccurate. That is retrograde. That is a 1970's attitude we have, not a 2040 attitude we need.
UPDATE: If you want to see where the sectarianism that the CNO and the Navy supports leads to - well - click here. And yes, I told you so.
Great point. Cant forward if we are stuck self pity bulls(@n">*@. Easier to blame mediocrity on a skin color then on the self.. everyone needs an exucse now days.
ReplyDeletereminds of 4th or 5th grade and "Up with People" crap they were shoving down our throats. Thanks NEA.. and my take away remember song was "free to be you and me" and "it's allright to cry"... my teacher loved cats and if I know now what I should have known then.. well I would have been a regular feature in my principals office..
Sorry, I wasn't in long enough to learn about these things, but what is the 'one drop rule'? And is there seriously not an option for 'mixed'?
ReplyDeleteJT,
ReplyDeleteThat is what google is for if you were mal-educated. Not your fault; it's the teachers union.
As for mixed - talk to those in the Diversity Industry. They can't stand that, discourage it, and work against it - as there is no money in it.
That is why you don't see it as much as you should.
Well said, CDR. Well said. It seems rediculous to me that with all the financial restrictions we will be facing in the very near term, that our military (and especially Navy) is stuck on stupid, and still feeding the Diversity industry.
ReplyDeleteEnough already. =-X
Must be a link or embedded video blocked in KSA. What's the subject?
ReplyDeleteThat's...really awful. How much does this kind of nonsense affect who gets promoted, and who makes policy?
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, out in Kal--ee--forn--ee--yah...

Whenever I read of the diversity complaints, I am reminded of Shakespeare's charcter Shylock, and his monologue from "Merchant of Venice". I think it plays well here.

He hath disgraced me, and hindered me half a million, laughed at my losses, mocked at my gains, scorned my nation, thwarted my bargains, cooled my friends, heated mine enemies; and what's his reason? I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? Fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Christian is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?
If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that.

Either we are all the same race: Human; or there is something terribly wrong with the way our society is currently functioning. I wouold place my money on the latter.

ReplyDeleteThe black principal must be a retired naval officer. When the educational system parades in-your-face racism as "divesity" and "multi-cultural" education, you know that the Navy can't be far behind in fomenting this divisive agenda. Global Force for Good Riddance.
Just an Amazon.com link to a book on mixed race children - called "Mixed."
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks.
ReplyDeleteOT: Third SEAL not gulity HOOYAH!
ReplyDeleteAt what point does one become a leader, instead of blaming leadership?
ReplyDeleteGOH, that whole stinking pile of crap going on in Kal-ee-for-ni-ya is unbelievable. The diversity bullies are marginalizing Americans inside America.
ReplyDeleteWhen "leadership" quits threatening to kill the career of anyone who openly opposes this crap.
ReplyDeleteOh, and guest, before you think I am just an old fat white guy bitching...check out this pic. That would be me on the left, in the wardroom of the Coral Sea, for a long ago Thanksgiving dinner.
Even then, I can tell you I was wondering why in the world people made such a big do over someone's "color"
It was rapidly making much less difference then. Makes almost no difference now.
Except for the Diversi-nazis grubbing after money and power.
Ahh, the "careerist". The worst sickness in the military. When people view decisions as having three options, "right", "wrong", and "what's good for my career", we've found the enemy.
ReplyDelete?
ReplyDeleteSid, you weren't flirting with the adorable girl down at the end of the table? Disgrace to the wardroom! Tsk! (lol I think the Coral Sea is still around, no?)
ReplyDeleteSid, you weren't flirting with the adorable girl down at the end of the table? Disgrace to the wardroom!
ReplyDeleteNah...Beins that I was (am) a congenital geek, I was scared of girls then (still) 8-)
As for the old Coral Maru. She met her end some years back. And like the Warsprite, she didn't go easily.
Not related at all to the topic, but you can see the battleship bones the Midways were built with, as she was stripped to below the hangar deck.
I knew she hung around forever. But so sad to see her go. :( What pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the reasons why, even though I am a native Californian (and have a real, live, issued by LA County birth certificate to prove it), I refuse to voluntarily set foot inside the borders of that state again. Ah-nold can stick his "When can you start" commercials where the sun don't shine as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteNote: I consider family obligations there to be mostly involuntary at this point in time.
I feel for ya, DB, being caught behind enemy lines like that. You and BM really are made of rather strong stuff to put up with it.
