Sorry Charlie ....

You just validated what your critics have always said about you; that in the end it is all about Charlie.

Sad, I used to defend you. This is all so sad. I was wrong about you once. Via TheWeeklyStand - I think Jeb puts it about right.
"I am not surprised. This decision is not about policy or principles. It is about what he believes is in his political self-interest."

And no; politics is not broken; you are - that is why Rubio is eating your lunch.

Not that it matters, but face it:  won't go over well in the Republican party when he's outed for being gay.

Seriously, Charlie.  Just come out of the closet.

People don't hate gay people.  People hate hypocrites.

A political crapweasel who epitomizes what is wrong and broken in our government today.

Arrogant, egotistical, narcicisst, self serving unprincipled idiots lusting after power, with total disdain and disregard for the voters and our country.

He is in the really top layers of this species, along with Spincter Specter and President Obama.

The sooner all of them are thrown out of office, the better our country will be.

Gotta go write a check to Rubio...and Toomey.

I think its great. Its about time moderates and people who actually have some common sense started standing up for their right to do so. He is quite right that politics in this country is broken-and if by doing this he splits the race and screws it up for Rubio in the general election, well that is just an extra added bonus. The world is not black and white-and Crist is the candidate the Republicans should be embracing-not some hack who just happens to fit the tea bagging definition of what is ideologically pure.

And besides-even if Crist had stayed in the primary and gotten beaten- folks are going to be very disappointed in Marco Rubio runs to the middle for the general electorate. Its his only chance to win whatsover.

Dude.  You need to study your Crist.  Start with a review of how his word was with Guiliani.

"Unfortunately, our political system was broken."  - Does Crist mean the phony political system that for too long has allowed shifts between 2 parties of corrupt politicians with scant attention toward or accountability to the desires of most American voters is finally broken?

Let's hope Crist is as correct about that assessment as he is wrong about being part of the solution.

Skippy-sama, I have respect for you as someone with whom I do not frequently agree. Even when I think you are wrong (with the exception of your misogny {g}) I won't bust your chops just because we differ.

BUT. If you ever, in my physical presense make any sort of crack about "tea baggers" you will Goddamn lose some skin at the very least. That term is a disgusting sexual & personal slur, and tars anyone who uses it as a mindless reactionary bigot. Why not whip out "fag," "wetback," "moolie," or "kike" while you're at it?

This is far, far beneath you, sir. Do you now place yourself in the same category as Garafalo, Olberman & company wherein they slander those who disagree with them as ignorant, racist, bigots, or fascists? Even Jon Stewart called Olbermann out on that BS.

It's pretty sad when a comic entertainer is the sane voice of liberal Democrats in the media. Apparently all the "real" leaders were too busy lining up for a circle-jerk over idiotic claims the Tea Party movement is composed of white racist (but I repeat myself) "bitter clingers" who hate Obama because he's black...

Skippy, it's OUR state. We KNOW Crist. He could give a damn about the war, the economy or anything else. You're just jumping on this to bang your tired old drum again.

And by the way, I really don't like that "tea bagger" crap. I don't care if you disagree with them, or me, since there's a lot to like about individual citizens making their grievances known. Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin would have been pleased with the Tea Party people, as would the likes of Samuel Adams and Paul Revere.

It's hilarious.  Gen Petraeus said he won't run and said something like, "how could I get elected w/ such a big flip flop?"  if'ns he decided to run against his word.  Wallace painted Charlie (or was that George Hamilton?) into a corner making him declare that he was only going to run on the Republican ticket.  He showed his true colors.  I never liked him.

The good genderal got it right and understood.  Charlie, on the other hand, did not.  And to think he lied to us.  Clutch the pearls I am so surprised.

I never did like him.  He is milque toast and floats on the political wind.  He refused to answer the asshattery in Miami and has not led at all.  He was lucky Jeb was an able executive and handed Crist a righted ship with good books.

Rubio is winning because he has conviction and IS IN TOUCH not only with Floridians like Byron and Me, and others here, but because he is also in touch with America.

THose that dont see this are out of touch also.

Call us Tea Baggers Skippy, go ahead.  I stand with the likes of Addams, Jefferson, and Paine.  Mea fucking culpa.

like Curly Bill Said Charlie, "Well Bye"

When a politician says "politics is broken" or the "system is broken" you can rest assured what it really means is "I didn't get my way."

    Crist is for Crist.

Hes politician. They get to that position by dishonesty. I dont understand all the ass kissing of the Republican party on these blogs. Both party leaders create a set of beliefs for the sake of power. Thats it. They are not fighting for you, they are fighting for themselves.

Aw, Matthew is upset that Charlie didn't come out and admit he's really a Democrat. What a shame. I almost fee sorry for him.

One of the major differences between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans punish politicians who lie to them.  Democrats just celebrate how clever the lies are.  Bush 41 lost in his re=election bid almost completely because he went back on his "Read my lips, no new taxes" pledge.  Clinton, and now Obama, engaged in an almost unbroken string of lies and broken promises.  You can rest assured that they will pay no price what so ever with the Democrat faithful.
As for the tea party activists, I've been waiting for their opponents to delineate what they oppose about the movement rather than simply throw slurs and lies at them.  Is it the call for lower taxes? Smaller and less intrusive government?  A return to Federalism rather than essentially a unitary state in DC?  Adherence to the Constitution?  Something about the Tea Party has the leftists tied up in knots but apparently they are loath to explain what.  I find it appalling, but certainly not surprising, that the left media can whip itself into a frenzy over completely unsubstantiated charges that someone may have used a racial epithet at a tea party gathering in DC but excuse or ignore actual violence when perpetrated by the undocumented Democrats in Arizona.
As for the canard that all politicians lie.  That's like saying all sailors have tattoos and drink too much.  Certainly some do, but if we are going to tar them all with that brush how can we expect honest citizens to take part in the political process and run for office?

Bur Charlie's done so much for his fellow Floridians.  Even before he was Governor he helped the husband of one of my wife's sorority sisters.  The poor fellow needed a safe, private place for his extra-marital affair and Charlie let him use his place.  What a guy.

  19. Meh...Politics hasn't changed.  It isn't broken, it has always been litte ugly, and people switch parties more than occasionally (Theodore Roosevelt, Strom Thurmond, Ronald Reagan...).

Perhaps Gov Crist thinks the party has left him, or that he can do better trying to get the moderate vote (no matter what party...).  I am not familiar enough with the Florida electorate to say either way.

Most folks who bolt a party, or try a "third party" run -- pretty much don't go anywhere, whether it was ex-Pres Theodore Roosevelt & his "Bull Moose" campaign, or, more recently, H. Ross Perot.  They invariaby run up against a funding problem -- and established state/national party organizations.

They do appear to hurt the party that the bolt from, the results this time remain to be seen.

This isn't, as far as I can tell, a major issue -- whether it was Rubio or Crist -- it is likely that the seat will go Republican, correct?

If so -- (and I don't think the Senate will go Republican...but the House might) then this isn't a game changer.  An interesting side-show, but that's about it.
