I'm Mrs. P. I'm a 23 year old college grad, Marine wife, and mommy to a brand spankin' new little girl. I traded in my life of care free partying for a life with my Marine and the lifestyle that comes with it.
I saw this two days ago when Mary Ripley posted a link on Facebook. I must say that I have been walking around for most of the past 48 hours reflecting on the thoughts/words/emotions posted on this young woman's page. To say I have been moved by her situation is to understate. I only hope more American read this and understand the depth of sacrifice that has been rendered upon the alter of liberty.
I've tried commenting on this several times now, and I just can't. I'll leave it at words fail me. I just pray that the Lord lends a shoulder to this young woman during her time of loss and into the future.
Byron-Like you, words fail me. However, we are in good company. When Jesus came to Lazarus' tomb, he first wept (John 11:35). Words simply can not convey what needs to be said. For today, prayers say what we cannont. See Romans 8:26. ("Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.")
Yup, I caught the link a couple days ago too, and posted a short comment. I cannot grasp the magnitude of her loss, because I don't want my mind to go there. Suffice to say that she has, I can see, a strength that will help her through the coming weeks, months and years. I can see that through her ability to write about her loss so soon after she got the news, coupled with the responses she's been recieving. She'll always be a Marine Wife, and they have a support group that is simply wonderful, so though she may not realize it just now, she's got a huge extended family to call upon when needed.
In his all too short time, he had the happiness that his wife and daughter brought him, something precious beyond calculation.
Now they are alone, bereft, and stunned by the enormity of their loss. My heart aches for both of them. I pray she be graced with the courage and the faith to rebuild their lives, step by step and day by day.
I have confidence she will. By her writing and her blog, she shows every indication that she has the intelligence, the spine, and the heart keep the faith and raise her daughter properly.
Now, for the time we are given, we have to see that they, and all the others like them, are respected, honored, and protected.
They remain in our prayers. They add to our tears.
Let no man ever say that baby girl's father was not a man of substance, and a hero. He was a damn good Marine,,,nuff said.
That was one of the toughest blog posts I have ever read. Thanks to her for putting a face on what sacrifice means to the military. RIP Marine....fair winds and following seas.
