Harumph

Adm. Mike Mullen will be staying put as chairman of the Joint Chiefs to be part of determining the new U.S. strategy for Afghanistan.

On Friday night, the Senate confirmed Mullen for a second two-year term as the nation’s top uniformed officer and principal adviser to the president.

At his Sept. 15 re-confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Mullen said he is about events in Afghanistan and has “a sense of urgency about this.”

“I worry a great deal that the clock is moving very rapidly, and there are lots of clocks, as you know,” Mullen said.

Hat tip Mike.
