Webb almost gets it

Rarely have we seen such a loss of potential than Sen. Webb (D-VA). He cannot get past the fact that he is/was wrong on Iraq and now is mostly used by his party as Sen. Reid's (D-NV) designated blind-partisanship ankle-biter.

Ignore all the partisan BS in th article and you will, however, find some truth.

"Three hundred thirteen can't do it, I can't see, in the long run," Webb said. "We're building one (submarine) per year and the Chinese are building three per year. We need a strategy based on the United States being a maritime nation, and the United States should be a sea power."

"Simply stated, we are decommissioning Navy ships faster than we are building them," he said. "It is imperative that we reverse this steady slide in shipbuilding."

Yes, but lets talk design, cost per hull and good vs. perfect. Money is important, but so is what you buy for it. If he did more of this, and less of playing bitter-boy, I would have more respect for him.

Why, you may ask, do I snipe at the distinguished Senator from Virginia? Well, read the whold article, and most of the public uttering coming from him over the last few months - absorb it, then without laughing read this.

"We have economic issues, and we have issues of national security and military policy. At the same time, we have way too much bickering in this government," Webb said. "It is extremely frustrating."
