Egypt can't feed its own people, imports almost 50% of the food, has the worse illiteracy rate in the MENA, and has lived off of handouts from the US and the oil rich ME "haves". Now the IMF won't lend them money since their "government" doesn't govern, their gold reserves are slipping out the back door to keep the military propped up, and the thousands of 'educated" graduates can't find any job but selling tea on the corner. The only thing lacking is ta dah - someone to blame, thus enters Israel - everyone loves to hate those hard-working successful money making Israelis.

30 plus years ago did a study on the Giza plateau for a geolgoy class. My professor way back then nailed it when he said soemthing to the effect of "the Egyptians have never had anything other than a totalitarian regime and never will because they won't give democracy the generation it needs to be born, survive and grow". I'm thinking he was right, even if he was a liberal, pot smoking, tree hugger.G-mannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704146.post-71404570818719988402011-09-13T12:08:16.878-04:002011-09-13T12:08:16.878-04:00Check out Nonie Darwish.
